I get that problem also and the weird thing is If I try to start the game using the Play BF2 online now icon the game will freeze however for some reason if I just use the regular BF2 icon it doesn't!!!! Now there is no reason why that should happen but I can reproduce the problem each and everytime.....

is your game patched or un-patched? Either way both versions are bugged, so i guess its up to you for which is more important.

I'm getting a similar problem. The game freezes when connecting to the account server. The things is - I've has the game since it came out and it's only starting to do this today. I always turn off my virus blocker when I play so I don't think that can be to blame. I did download the patch and haven't re-installed the game since. Is this the problem EA was referring to?

Play BF2 online now! Connects you to the server you were last on you whilst you are logging in. Please give credit to EA for not even telling us this and giving us no warning that it's happening whilst logging in. My advice: Always use "Battlefield2" Shortcut and not "Play BF2 Online Now!". Happened to me before, the solution was making new accounts, but then each time I had to make a new one. Infact, you can go one step further and remove the "Play BF2 Online Now!" Icon from your desktop to avoid any future confusion.

I re-installed and it fixed the problem :). Though I realise this is a pain...

I'm having the same problem. I tried reinstalling the game and played it unpatched and worked fine, Then i installed the 1.2 patch and it started freezing. Never did this before, any help would be appreciated.
