I have had this problem now for a little while, and it's making me so mad that I'm not sure if I want to keep it. I installed the game , no problems, then all of a sudden after about a month, it wouldn't play a mp game sp seems ok . it loaded client information etc did all it had to then it froze to a point where the music was either repeating or juddering after doing all it had to then at the last stage of client data. I uninstalled the game and re-installed it and it worked fine for a few days before doing the same thing.

My pc is shit-hot with p4 3.2 hyper-t cpu, 2gig ddr400 mem, 256mb 6800gt nvidia graphics 300gb hdd, 150gb hdd ,audigy soundcard , plus all the gubbin's including all new drivers ( lots of coolers) and a 650watt powerplant , a 2mb broadband system and windows xp pro so the system itself shouldn't be the problem.

any ideas apart from uninstalling and starting again?

 :bawl: :deal:

More than likely you have corrupted files in your registry. You are going to have to clean your registry to get it to work again. I had the same effin problem and the EA tech gave me the same solution, in fact here is his response: Hello, Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I’m sorry for the delayed response. What changes have you made to your computer? Has the game worked without the patch? Please uninstall and reinstall the game without the patch. In order to further troubleshoot your issue, I'm going to need additional system information. Please send me this information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this: · Go to Start -> Run. · In the box, type the following: dxdiag · Click "OK" · Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application. · Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save. · Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply. After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution. Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (support.ea.com) James EA Games Technical Support Customer07/22/2005 06:53 PMI did what you recommended as well as installing it in "safe mode" and the game still locks up. Why on earth is this game so messed up? I had it running perfectly at one time and now it is completely unusable. Please advise...thank you. Response (EA Tech James K.)07/22/2005 03:28 AMHello, Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with Battlefield 2. This may be caused by corrupted files. Please manually remove the game and do a fresh install. You can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. Be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear to prevent accidental file/program deletion on your system. To delete the save files: Open My Documents. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete. To delete the game files (in the default location): Open My Computer. Open the C drive. Open the Program Files folder. Open the EA GAMES folder. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete. Close all open windows. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin. To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2: Click on the Start button. Click on Run. Type regedit in the text field. Click File and then choose Export. Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All. Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click the plus sign next to Software. Click the plus sign next to DICE. Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete. Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts. Right-click and choose Delete on any Battlefield 2 folders. Click the plus sign next to Microsoft. Click the plus sign next to Windows. Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion. Click the plus sign next to Uninstall. Right-click and choose Delete on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}. Close the Registry Editor. Battlefield 2 should now be completely uninstalled. If anything appears to be working incorrectly after editing the registry, simply double-click on the Backup file on your desktop to restore the old registry. If the patch is causing the issue, I suggest you don't install the patch. Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (support.ea.com) James EA Games Technical Support

I'm not at all certain, but it sounds like it could be an Network Card driver issue or a Firewall/Router issue.

just a quick reply. i have finally managed to get the patch to patch and the game works fine now, back to the killing and joyriding. only took about an hour to install the bloody patch. tsk tsk.... i heard someone saying it took 5 minutes but i think it varies between systems, my pc aint no heap-o-shite pc,its hand built clear case with p4 3.2ghz, 6800gt 256mb grafixslab , audigy soundslab, 2 gig ddr2 mem, 2mb broadband, etc etc, so all i can say it thats its a crap patch. OI EA we need a patch for the patch please.....
