I say it would run the game but not even on medium. Would it be possible for you to pony up another 100 and get a 6600? That would be a better choice......mine plays well on a 9800pro256 card...and those are 190 now....was 290 when I first bought it. the 6600 is a good card.....most people will say that....

yeah the 6600 is a decent card. But for 75 bucks you can get a 9600 xt 256 that will run it on medium across the board. :D :naughty:

yeah, having a PCI video card sucks because there isnt much upgrade room. But yes, they should play it on low.

Seriously I would not really consider the 5500. If you are upgrading to a vid card that's already well below min spec then it's probable that the rest of your system is going to be a bottleneck. I would recommend, keeping your $80+ and putting it towards a motherboard with PCI-E vid card slot and a new CPU and mem.

Of course the other thing is, no one can actually tell you if this will work because as far as I know there has been no board member who has used one for BF2.

I think the min specs for BF2 is the 5700.

the min specs ARE an AGP card, and a 5700. But it is possible to play on cards such as the 5200, just poorly. I have heard of some people playing with a PCI card and others not. I saved my money for a very long time and built a whole new computer with SLi PCI express and a socket 939 processer, so that its highly upgradable, and can be futureproof. Buying BF2 and upgrading a PCI vid card is a waste of money and not worth it. But a 5500 shouldplay the game very very low.

if you have 80 bucks and an agp slot. I can honestly say that if you need the upgrade right now, you can't go wrong with a 9600 xt 256. It is proven to be a strong card on medium for everything short of aa and af. I have one ( along with an x800) and so do a few people in the clan.
