Hey guys, Since 1.3 ive been having problems where i would lag ingame for no apparant reason. At first i thought it was video card related but it hadnt ever happened before 1.3 and it just happened randomly not just during heated battles or at the start of maps. I then thought it might be a lack of RAM issue but after some serious optimizing it turns out i actually have some RAM free when i play bf2. Then i noticed that when this lag happens that the light indicating hard disk use turned on. So i thought it might be related to my hard disk. So ive defragmented, raised and lowered pageing file and optimized my registry but still not luck, in fact i think its getting worse. Also its worse on some levels more than others, specifically AF maps and maps like Kubra Dam etc. Im hoping it will fix itself when 1.4 is released but until then i want to rule out any other options. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be or any possible solutions.? Thanks, Ali

Try getting memtest86 and testing your memory under full load. You could have a bad stick causing your issues. Check the capacitors on your mother board for bowling. This can also cause similar issues. Get PCdr or GWscan and run hard disk scans for anomolies. You can also run chkdsk from dos prompt and scan the hard drive that way.

This game is resource intense. you know this ;). if your pc is having physical issues, this game will bring them to the surface.

i thought about trying memtest but im not sure exactly what im supposed to do. Nearest i can tell is i download it, extract, put it on to disk and then reboot with the disk in the drive? Can you tell me how im meant to use it? how do i check the capacitors on my mobo, is there a software way or is it a physical thing to check as im using a laptop and im reluctant to open it up. Ive tried chdsk but it says alls fine, il try PCdr and see what that throws out. Thx Merrick for help, if anyone else has anymore ideas please post aswell.

Maybe if you change the Pagefile to Custom and set the Initial Size and Maximum Size the same at 2000 MB. This way the Pagefile won't be defragmented.

Yep im using a laptop Merrick. I think its 4200 as that standard but i dont know for sure as it doesnt say in device manager or on Vaio website. Ive thought about upgrading to a 7200rpm but its i cant afford it right now but when i can the process of creating an image and then installing everything is a bit daunting. But if 1.4 doesnt help my problem i may have to do it anyway. If you can give me any advice about HDD upgrading it would be great. I was going to just get a usb caddy for the new one use a free trial of Acronis true image to copy my current disk onto it (with the same recovery partion setup etc) Hopefully find someway to put my pagefile at the beginning of the disk also. And then just take out the old one and put in the new. Does this all seem sound?
