first to not misunderstand any thing, i have a KT800 mainboard with a amd athlon xp 3200+ (barton^^), 1 gig 400 mhz Geil ram, hercules ati radeon 9600 pro 128 mb, sound blaster 5.1 (dunno about driver, it works thought) 120 sata 7200 rpm western digital harddrive. With XP home edition SP 2 with all updates. newest driver/bios/chipset(directX 9.0c) driver's except on the sound card.
i can play most game's trouble free except every thing based on the HL and hl2 grafic thing...(could not remeber what it's called) witch happen very resently, after my gfx card...got mad? the ati smartgard thing placed the card under 0X carentine :O can't play stable with it at 8X.
and i close firewall/anti-virus and any other program witch i not need.
it's not a virus or ad-aware. o_O have formated the HDD several times.
ok..now to the actual problem.
i can play fairly good at a 32 player server with the lowest gfx setting possible. but after a while usual at big maps i will get what a call a bottleneck witch is TOTAL CRAP FPS + the map, the hp meter, the weapon info, all the writed things on the stats screen will err....be gone? and on 64 player map's (with 64 player's) i will get all the problem up^^ there almost instantly when i join a server. plus the ground/terrain texstur will usual go black but some times a lot of color.
i have a long time of pc experience so plz don't state the ?oblious? (<<< know i spelled it wrong, dont hate me :P )
the ground/terrain problem i had a similar problem in GTA SA: the characters textur would be TOTAL black. witch was realy annoying, but if i would go to a real foggy place i would see the textur. i tried to put my gfx card in a friends pc and try some game's: hl and cs would run (100 fps :P) hl2 would run, san andreas would run for a goody while before the textur problem would come.
any idea what i can do to solve this? can it be smartgard? or the whole gfx card? i will be thankful for all (real) help? :P
btw: i think the hdd it the sinner, why? have fried 2 over a period of 2,5 year's and it....is being difficult...like i can't resize any of my partition using Partition magic. lol i tryed to use real player on a video file on D: " file is missing" ? wtf? moved it to the desktop and like magic it workd
any help would be very good to ANY of the problems wrote here...and yes i have cooling fans on the tower on the cpu and on the gfx card...but it stop't working :O big crack on it :/ :P
and i almost forgot no complaining on the english, ok? i wrote this 05:15 in the morning and im not english :P
just a little note: when playing singleplayer or hosting a server everly thing is perfect :P

Not sure how to help with this one. I have the same thing happen, sometimes. I am hoping that a future patch will adress this issue. One thing that may help is for you sit there and wait for a little bit, maybe a one full minute, after the 'Verifying Client Data' is done before clicking on 'Join Game'(watch your Hard Drive light and wait until it has calmed down before clicking 'Join Game'). If you have 'Auto Ready' enabled see if you can disable it. Having 'Auto Ready' enabled means that you automatically join the game as soon as the 'Verifying Client Data' is done. Another possible cure is, if you have EAX enabled in your sound options try playing the game with EAX disabled. It may be a little hard for me to describe exactly, but here is how it happens for me. I'll be playing for a little while, then suddenly the terrain will go all black. I can still see objects such as buildings and vehicles, but all motion in the game comes to a stop. During this time my hard drive light is on, solid. In other words my hard drive is totally busy. If I wait for about one minute then my game returns to normal, although by this time I find myself to be dead most of the time. :lol: It's as if what is happening is the map, or perhaps some large section of the game code, is reloading while I'm in the middle of battle. Or perhaps something(OS/Game code) is being paged in/out to the OS's Paging File. This does not happen very often to me on my system, but it does happen sometimes and it seems that I just have to wait a bit for everything to return to normal. It is possible that the cause of this is that the game has a very slight memory leak with the 1.02 patch. I never had this happen with the 1.0 version of the game but I have encountered it in 1.01 and 1.02. Another possibility is that another 1 GB of RAM might cure this issue from occuring. I believe I will find out because I am getting another GB of the exact kind of RAM I currently have in about 10 days. JackaZZm, if your game is not returning to normal after waiting for a minute or so then I don't know what to think. One thing I can think of is to write an e-mail to EA about this issue which is something I should do myself, although this issue is not too much of a problem for me because it doesn't happen very often on my system and my game does return to normal after a bit. i currently play with eax off but i still had the problem while it was on :/
yeah, true about the terrain going black and the player's disappear :O like...can just see the name for a while but if i see right to the ground it sould clear a litte but i would not make the game slightly playable
but i dont get it... i playd for like 2.30 hours on a 32 player server and it could just happen with slightly interference witch would go away if i press esc...but when it's total crap i usual restart bf2 and find another server :P

hmm i managed to fix the problem somehow...either it was that i but my two geil 512mb ddr 400mhz in dual channel mode or that i managed to get my gfx card to run smoothly in 4x agp :P just close the post if you like
