It's been quite a while since I've messed with Networking, so I may be asking you to look at stuff that doesn't need looking at and I may ask you to add stuff that may not be needed. A Networking guru may be able to help you out better. Anyway, I'll try. Go here... Control Panel --> Network Connections --> Local Area Connection(or whatever yours is named) --> Properties Make sure you both have 'Client for Microsoft Networks' installed and checked. Sounds like you guys already do but I'm just making sure. Highlight 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' --> Properties --> Advanced --> Click the WINS tab Make sure you both have the 'Enable NETBIOS over TCP/IP' bullet checked. Next... Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services Make sure you both have the 'Computer Browser' service set on Automatic. You probably do but I'm just making sure. Make sure you both have the 'TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper' service set to Automatic. DHCP and DNS Client should also be set to Automatic, which yours probably already are. If you had to change anything in the above I suggest rebooting. Are you guys using any kind of Firewall or Router? Are you both logged in as Administrator when you play the game? You guys might have everything I went over already set the way I described and I'm not sure anything I have done will help you but I thought I'd try. If I were there I could probably play around with your systems and get it working. Good Luck, OneTinSoldier

That happens when you are not using an online account to try and play. if you are trying to play SP with two ppl across the LAN both ppl MUST be using online accopunts and MUST be logged in to the master account server for ti to work. From the description YOU are using a online account but he isn't. If he is using an offline account when you try to join it should crash, and you can't see his because it is an offline account.

Ahhhh, very nice AK. I doubt I would have ever thought of this as being the problem. Something I'm curious about AK is how in the world you derived that his friend is not using an online account from the original post? OneTinSoldier
