I cant play Wake, Kubra, Daqing or Mashtuur in single player. Is this normal or did I get screwed with the DVD I purchased. I have installed at least 12 times and still I cant use these maps in single player. I have even emailed EA and they dont seem to give a rats ass.

Thank You for all the help in advance.

Some maps are multiplayer only such as Wake. so you won't be able to play that one in single player. My guess is the others are the same.

All I can say is. Are you kidding me with all the awesome game coders and mappers that they have they cant get all maps single and multiplayer. Is it just lazyness or whats up. Are they eventually going to make them single player or what.

Everyone is too busy modding the multiplayer. They aren't lazy ... Just busy ..... They aren't worried about modding the single player because the majority of it is,

Spoiler: Show
Online play

This has been done upmpteen times, please use the search function in the future. The reason they can't use the SP AI on some maps is because of the way the destructible environment works. In certain maps the destructible environmental features are a key part of the strategy. In Kubra Dam its the middle part of the dam, in Mashtur City its the high bridge, and etc. When these are destroyed it screws up the bots pathmapping. You either have to path map around them, in which case the bots would NEVER cross the dam because it cuts ALL the pathmapping on a structure like that, or pathmap across and have the bots just driving over the edge when it gets destroyed, either way it ruins the gameplay.

As for Wake, hey its free map, they probably just wanted it finished in time for the patch release. As far as I can recall none of the extra maps released by DICE for BF1942 had bots either.

Actually I did search and didnt find anything Maybe I mispelled I dont know. But It wouldnt be hard to get around it. Its called scripting writing a certain command at a certain place in the bot path. Its not really that hard from wht I understand. Its just wether the developers want to do it or not. If the dam is destroyed or something else is when the bot hits it and it tells them to do something else like turn around and go back or use a different path. Its not an imposible fix. Wake was in Co-op so it did have AI and bot pathing. The only reason why I know is because I played around making a basic map for UT 2004 and Bot Pathing a scripting was part of map building.

In regards to destroying game play you should be able to make several paths linked together not just one seperate path.

Please don't compare the BF2 maps to UT and Quake and etc bot path mapping, I have a good understanding of how they work, having done some myself. BF2 pathmapping is completely different not only in environment but in kind, it is not in any way analagous to mapping in UT or Quake or any other of the games like that. Scripts don't come into it because they don't work with the types of events we are dealing with (and again yes I have dealt with event scripting in other games), and you can't map individual paths around the problem because it uses a path mesh, NOT individual paths for bots like the other games mentioned.

In regards to destroying game play you should be able to make several paths linked together not just one seperate path.

If you make a hole or gap in the path mesh it is a hole or gap, the bots can't cross it, and it applies to above and below also. Sure you can map around it, and there are different ways to get to the other side of the dam by coming up the other side of the valley, but the dam is the key piece of architecture in the Kubra Dam map and breaking the bot path mesh at the Dam bridge would ruin the SP game because it would have to be set around the dam to have any point. So rather that doing that the devs have obviously decided not to release nerfed SP maps that the players would only complain about.

OK so basiclly its an engine limitation. They didnt put it in the design. Fair enough you would think they would have added it since its a brand new engine and all. To Bad. Poor Planning.

Thanks for the info.

no i don't think it is a limitation on the engine either. As you are talking of modding SP maps/events. Not multiplayer. You could remake the map and play it multiplayer and take out the sp event script and bot path all you like i would think.
