i am having massive lag while trying to play online (vanilla BF2)
yet, when i hit tab, it shows my ping around 50-100 range. It lags like the ping was in the 300-999 range
Its not a matter of my system, i can play BF2 at the current settings just fine, and my internet connection is 16mb/2mb (down/up), but it usually tests around 2-7/1.5 (down/up).
I am going to call my ISP to see why the down speeds are less than half of the advertised speeds, but even with that, i shouldnt get this lag
Turn off any other programs that might be taking up bandwidth.
This seems simple, but I had a friend who was complaining about really laggy online play with CS, and he blamed me because I set up Steam and CS for him, but it turns out that he just had bittorrent in the background.
If you can't seem to find anything taking up bandwidth, I've got a program called connected.exe (I can't seem to find it via google again), that shows all processes which are connecting/connected to the internet.
wts your system specs if u have got 512mb m8 i had this laggy problem its to do with your ram on full wack + your ram has to run virus soft etc so its eating up your ram if u get a 1gb of ram u will have no problem as i have not long upgraded i have got a corsair or wt eva they call it pc3200 ddr ram wich is 2x 512mb making it 1gb wich is 400mhz each and that kicks ass so let me know wt system u got m8
A lot of people get Lag mixed up with Choppyness... or CN..
Now, LAG is when your connection to the server takes a while, like .4 of a second, causing you game to ...warp, Your walking, then BOOM, you back where you started, then you spam everywhere...
CN (or choppyness) is when you system has trouble processing your game, thus causing low framerates, moreless you just chop around, like in slow motion, it just moves frame by frame...
Now, if you internet provider is fast.. and you have low pings, then it is your system that is having trouble Processing your game... Turn your Graphic settings down..
not always true. internet lag does not always apply to ping, ping is just a way of measuring how 'strong' your connection is to the server and thus higher pings when the server is further away and ure connection is not so stable. Internet lag can also happen because the server is having problems, u got a bit of packet loss, or bandwith is being lost-say if u have a shared connection. Firstly make sure you setting in bf2 under connection is 256k and above not T1 as this requires more bandwith and shud only be used in Lan games or really really good connections like a t1 fibre optic

i have the person was there, then the transport away while i am still firing at where they used to be.........then i die
AMD Athlon64 3700 1 gig DDR400 OCZ Gold 6600GT PCI-E 128mb
i have everything on medium, so the system can handle it
it might b your graphics card caz its only 128mb battlefield 2 graphics card minmum must have at least 128mb thats minimum so your g card might b struggling if u get 256mb it might work try running your game on low setting and c if it laggs if it dont when u have it on low then u know its your graphics card try it out and let us all know this is my system i run amd 64 3400 1gb corsair pc3200 400mhz and a geforce 6600 256mb graphics card
No it isnt his Gcard, i had the same card and it ran BF2 perfectly..
Well, a ping is milliseconds... 64 ping is .064 seconds.. 100 ping is 0.1 second..
and a 1000 ping is one second lag..
So moreless that is how fast the information is being sent.. so, any higher then 100 is bad, even a 100 is bad..
hey, I didnt really take time to read though all the replys because im in a hurry so if someone suggested this already then sorry. But for sure do a virus scan. I have that same problem every once in a while and a virus scan will always fix it for me. hope it helps
thats true try a virus scan and a spywear scan u might find something and turn off some background thign e.g msn or teamspeak etc try it
