I just got BF2 yesterday (original, PC/CD version with none of the expansions. I haven't patched yet either) and I was wondering:
I want to play the game online, but I'm not entirely sure how to. I know you have to set up an account, but when I try to set up a new one, it says:
And it stays like that for 10 minutes, if not more.
I do not have an online account, because I do not want to sit staring at a screen for 3 hours while it keeps saying 'Creating account...'
Is there an estimate at how long it takes for the game to create an online account? (when I set up my offline account, it only took about a minute of waiting)
My PC matches the Minimum Requirements, and I have no problem running other games online. (War Rock, Call of Duty, America's Army).
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
try patching it 1st with the 1.41 patch, here it is Battlefield 2 v1.41 Patch, Battlefield 2142 Downloads, Battlefield 2142 Client Files this is the only patch you need, and what is your connection speed??
I have a cable modem, but as I said, I have no problems running any other online game such as Call of Duty, War Rock, and America's Army.
I had the same issue you're having after 10mins i just turned the pc off as i couldn't do anything else, But after starting the game up again my account had been created.

Well, see, the other thing is, the game is still running, and I can quit the game just as I normally would.
It's really getting on my nerves, as all I can play is SP, which I find lacking something, and the weapons are EXTREMELY underpowered i.e. I can shoot a guy in the face 4 times with an AK-101 and he won't die.:Puzzled:
did you patch it yet???? also is your firewall letting it get through??

I haven't patched it yet, because I have it installed in another PC.
Yes, the firewall is letting it get through.
Anti-virus/firewall/router block it at all?
First ... patch it.
Then check with portforward.com to be sure your router is allowing ALL communications to get through.
** Just because you can play other games DOES NOT mean you can play a single PARTICULAR game. They all have specific requirements and meeting the minimum requirements is just that. It means the game will FUNCTION. Not necessarily well, but will function.
do you have the game installed on 1 or 2 computers, patch it, and you can only reg the game once, so make sure its on the computer your going to be playing it on, and patch it, cant say that enough,
