hi, im new so hello! anyway, i have BF2, and i downloaded the Patch 1.12 and starte the setup program. but it comes up with "not enough memory needs 3000mb" or something like that. The problem is i have a partitioned drive so my C drive only has 10gb but my other one has like 90gb. and i cant simply delete stuff from my c drive as thats got stuff from all the users on my computer. thanks!

If I were you I would get an excellent program called Partition magic and move some of the space from your D:/ partition to C:/. It is very simple to use and does not require you to reformat any drives

You can still do it. The reason it needs that amount of space is because windows stores temp files on the C: drive, so it's only a temporary thing. Just go to program files, pick a very large installeld program (ie: Office or something) move the entire folder to d: drive, install the patch, move folder back. There are other things you can try like changing the lcation of your swap file to d: to free up room, changing the location of temp files for windows to D: drive and etc, get a program like Crap Cleaner, I recently ran it on a customers drive and it deleted 2.8Gb of temp files.

There must be something that you can move temporary, it's a 10gb drive after all. But try this and see if it helps.

start->settings->control panel->system->advanced->environment variables->user variables.

Select temp and press the edit button, change it to d:\temp, same with tmp, make it d:\tmp

Oh yes, DON'T play with anything else, just those two in the BOTTOM window.

NO, That's the top windows, leave that one! I said the BOTTOM Window. Go to the bottom Window, scroll down, you will see "temp......c:\windows\temp", and "tmp......c:\windows\temp", change those two.

well ok then, i did that, but i didnt change it as it had %SystemRoot%:\TEMP or something like that. is that the right thing? before i click edit tho it has (next to TEMP) c:\windows\temp so im guessing that i change SystemRoot%:\TEMP and put in d:\windows\temp or something? thanks for your help mate

Yes, the idea is to change your temp file location to a drive that has enough room for the files. It doesn't have to be d:\windows\temp, just d:\temp us good enough.
