ok , i downloaded that new patch that came out. and tried to install it , when i went to install it , it said in the window of the patch that the wizard will install 1.01 on my computer so i was like sure,, so i let run and it said patching please wait, so i wait and wait and then says patching failed. now i dont know why, i download it from BF2 files and i downloaded it first from ea I never downloaded the first patch , i read the problem about it first before i knew the patch was out , so thats not the problem my computer is far beyond the recomemded specs to run the game. I have a Radeon 9800 pro 128mb video card in here. i have a friend who has it as well , he doesnt get crashes to desk top , i do , all the freaking time, i dont know why , i have the lastest drivers of everthing anyway here is sys specs Win XP Pro 1 gig of memory radeon 9800 pro 128 3.6 ghz anything eles let me know , i really need help for this , its driving me crazy, cause EA techsupport sucks major A** !!

You may wish to try the following to get a deeper explanation as to why you are failing to patch. After trying to install the patch: 1. Go to C:\documents and settings\\local settings\Temp\ and look through folders in that directory that start with "{" (example: {F317E9TXQRTT54} ) for a folder with "Patch.exe" and "Patch.RTD" and "Patch.RTP". 2. From a command prompt, go to that directory and type in: patch.exe "c:\program files\battlefied 2\" (or whatever directory you installed BF2 into) THE QUOTES ARE NEEDED!!. 3. Wait for patches to start. Towards the end it may end up patching the game or, it will give you a decently detailed error as far as what went wrong. That should help you at least get to the next step. Hope this helps SilentWater24.

SilentWater - This wont work unless you first open Temp folder, and Then run the patch up untill right before it tries to install.. Then you will find the files in the temp folder , probably at the very bottom of the temp folder, since you've then got it open so it usually adds itself at the bottom.. ;) See if you cant find them like that..

I think the reason for that is that the patch program cleans up after itself, and removes itself from the temp folder after it is finished, nomatter whether it was successful or not..
