I have had Battlefield 2 installed since it came out, and have installed all the patches. When 1.03 came out I installed and it worked great first time I played... Then all of a sudden it wouldn't go into the game. I could load and get to the browser, hoewever when I clicked a game to into it would CTD.

Then I uninstalled and tried to reinstall and I can't get the installer to work. It asks for language preference and then starts loading the installer then crashes out. I have copied dvd files to my hard drive and still get the same crashe.

My disc is in relatively good condition with only minor scartches.

Specs:

2.53 P4, 2gig RAM, Radeon 9600xt, Sony DVD(-+)R drive.

Any ideas, EA's support is a bitch to navigate and find help.

I have the DVD version. I copied the files to my hard drive with no problems and it still crashes at same spot.

Have you tried on a different computer? If it gets past that part on another, then the problem is with your comp

Make a back up image of your disk and run it on an emeulation. If it works in that aspect it could be your drive giving the issue.

Sorry, I am getting completely pissed off at EA's support page. I can't get through to register nor can I find any way to access help or support for my game. This is geting to the point of pure BS. I am in no way a novice in computers and/or software so I have racked my brain and tried every possible way to run this game. I can't imagine why this game that I payed $50 for is the only damned piece of software that won't run on my machine. Does anyone know how to get through to EA's tech support!!!

Nobody said you were a novice. But the rest of us aren't either. Did you try to emulate the disk ? Did it work ? what did you try to do it with... cause i know what programs will and won't work for it. :D that is the first thing i do when i purchase a game is make a back up or image it so it runs on my hardrive, and never touch the disks again ..... I should be sealing them in plastic is what i should be doing LOL . when was the last time you checked your firmware on the sony ? o.O prolly never ? Try and update that. also .. did you manually delete the file folders left over after the previous install/unintsall?

Well the thing is, it runs ok on another computer, so it may be an obscure program you are running that conflicts with BF2, so there's no real way to know that even if you got in contact whether EA could help you or not.

At the moment I am thinking it may even be the Windows installer package playing up, what about trying recovery install of XP (the one that DOESN'T wipe all your data) and see if that helps.

I've tried emulating and the same exact thing happens at the same spot. Sorry I wasn't stating that anyone was calling me anything, just frustrated. I treid uninstalling some other games and reinstalling and that doesn't work either.
