Hi all, OK so loads of people are having this problem I think/hope. During play, suddenly I get severe lag accompanied by the message "there is a problem with your connection". After this happens a few times, it will usually disconnect and say "error reading from server" or something like that. I've tried all the standard fixes that one tries when fixing problems like this. However, when the lag starts and I alt0tab back to windows, the little network icon is reconnecting! I'm on wireless with a BT 2WIRE778 router. The signal NEVER disconnects at any other time, not with other games, which I play online plenty, or other programs. This disconnecting and reconnecting of the signal seems to happen so quickly that BF2 stays connected, but sometimes it takes longer, which is when I get disconnected. Signal strength in windows is 'Good', with 3 green bars. Many people are also complaining about this, but on wired connections. I wonder if it is the same problem? I know this has been done to death but I still haven't got a fix so I'm posting again. Does anyone else have this problem on wireless? Playing on non-punkbuster servers seems to help, but not always, sometimes I get the same problem. This, I imagine, is something due to the extra badnwidth that PB uses up with its sloppy coding (!!I had NO problem before the latest patch!!) The fact that it all worked fine before the latest patch is a dead giveaway that the coding of something in the game is crap. Its not my computer or the signal or the connection or anything like that, its BF2 causing the problem!! The question is, is there a workaround until EA sort their life out and realise this isn't an acceptable way to leave a game? I hate hearing "we are waiting til the patch is perfected before we release". Rubbish! Big hairy balls! Just release what you've got so far, and work on the rest for later. EDIT: Have also turned down wireless router speed from 54 to 5.5Mbps and 802.11b not b/g. No help. Ran in DMZ+ mode too. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! smilie.gif PC SPECS: Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard AMD Athlon64 4000+ (+Arctic Freezer64) 1Gb (2x512Mb) PC3200 DDR RAM Gigabyte Radeon X800 Pro 256Mb (+ATI Silencer 4, oc'd to 540/540 in-game) 200Gb HD 22Mbps wireless PCI adapter (Origo, who?)

Ok update: Assuming that throughout the game I get the connection message, and each time this happens the wireless signal basically instantly disconnects and then reconnects, when I stay in windows, with BF2 minimised, the connection does not go, despite the fact the BF2 is still running and doing what it always does, just in the background. Also, When this message appears, if I flick to windows and then back into the game again, it is gone. It is like alt-tabbing into windows fixes it (for about 10 seconds).

Personally I never recommend wireless for gaming. Actually wireless is useless for gaming and if there is anyway you can go with an RJ45 cable then do that. S

Fixed! Changed wireless channel from 6 to 1 (despite no other houses being near me) and lowered speed again down to 1mbps! Seems to be working fine. Only disconnected me 3 times in a couple of hours. Great! Fingers crossed that it stays working! Thanks for all the help and input all.

haha thats funny because my wireless always disconnects, EXCEPT when I play lol. dunno why i think the game is just forcing a solid connection, but i use the rj45 can get the mbps much higher with it
