Intel Celeron 2.4GHZ

That is your problem, get rid of it and burn it, now!

Other than the cache on celerons. There isn't much you can do for it. You may want to consider upgrading your processor to a p4 of some sort if your board can handle it. Would be worth your time and money.

768MB of RAM

You would probably see a reasonable boost by upping your memory to 1Gb or over. BF2 is very sensitive to memory.

well yeah that is always something of an issue. but think about that .. Most hdd are 1 meg cache. it isn't like you have a maxtor with a 1 meg cache on it that runs at 4200 rpm ? You don't need a 10,000 rpm raptor with a 74 meg cache to run this game .... That hdd is fine, unless it is failing .. In which case, you have an issue alot bigger than slow game play.

Tbh .. the only thing i see as a boost would be the hdd speed. The cache being 2 meg is fine. would you see an improvement with an 8 meg cache? Probably. But it really does depend on your processor and ram playing this game. Not to mention your Vid card.
