I've just installed special forces and whenever i try to run it it says
cannot find file mods\bf2\shaders\lighting.fx
Is there anywhere i can get this file, or any other way i can fix this?

your running specal forces on a CELERON i could barely run bf42 on a celeron and try reinstalling it
I've fixed it!
If it helps anyone, to replace lighting.fx it is not in the shaders folder. If you need it fixed go into mods\bf2 , right click and copy a file called client_shaders.zip (or shaders_client.zip I forget), then go into the mods\xpack (or somthing like that) and paste. If you did it right then you should be asked if you want to replace this file with another. Click yes.
!WARNING! always back up your files before a)editing program files b)taking my advice
I forgot to back up my files:lookaround:
You could have also repatched your BF2 with the full 1.4 patch to fix the issue. ;)

Ahh, you mean you've bodged it.
The correct procedcure, as stated previously, is to re-instal the latest patch AFTER installing SF. The reason for this is that installing SF takes your BF version backwards, and bodging it may fix the SF issue but just cause problems when trying to connect to normal BF2 servers. If it does then you can always install the patch, unless it kicks up becasue the file versions have now been changed.
oopsie. I'll re-install the 1.4 patch then....oops.
