9 out of 10 times CTD ( cash to Desktop ) errors are from inproper installation. Im not saying that that your installation is the problem, Im just saying. My friend had some problems with a MERC 6.0 ( fanatastic COOP mod ) map pack installation. He reinstalled the map pack and everything was tickity-boo!

Hi all,I have had this problem with every patch so far.I had 1.12 installed once on my old system when I patched over 1.03.Then I made the mistake of reinstalling the game and havent played on a ranked server since. The patch fails and then CTD when I start the game.So I bought a new system a few weeks ago and still get the same problem.I have tried a few fixes but no luck so far.I just reformatted my HD and I am not going to infect it with this crappy patch again .Anyone have any idea when the new one is being released?

This is how I fix the problem - I have it too. It is for me a DirectX corruption. Download the latest directX to your PC. Save it in a folder - you'll be needing it soon. Run the extracter, save the files to a folder. There should be a file called Setup. Run it. Let it do it's business, then reboot. Run BF. It should work from there on, and every time it crashes again, just redo the above.

I think that happened to me. i remeber installing a new game, then BF2 working for about a day. turned my computer on the next day and didnt work. Could mods be the blame of this too or is BF2 a "mod friendly" game?

SOLVED!!!

I had this problem on 3 seperate machines, finally figured it out.

what worked for me was downloading ALL of the patches. and patching them in order. 1.01 1.02 1.03 1.12 then load special forces.

its a pain in the ass, but it worked for me.

let me know if it helps.
