I was playing bf2 this morning fine for about 20 mins untill all of a sudden it suddenly went black and the PC rebooted?? The funny thing is its been fine since i bought the game on its release and i was playing the game perfectly for hours last night.
It seems to be somthing to do with the Graphics card doesn't it? or can this be caused by somthing to do with bf2?
my graphics card is: Nvidia Gforce 6800 GT.
Sure the fan hasnt packed up on the gfx card? It sounds to me like it could be too hot. Though it is a pretty new card i expect.
Yea it is a new 1 m8, only had the PC for about 7 months now and i have latest drivers.
Did you JUST RECENTLY update any of the drivers?
It's not your hardware. I have been having the same trouble for weeks now and EA knows this game is a half-baked turd burger. I have run Stinger for Viruses, installed all the latest drivers, (mobo, video, sound), cleaned the registry, configured the system in msconfig, used all the latest patches, and even installed the game in safe mode. In addition to having multiple discussions with tech. support. And everytime, regular as clock work BAM!!! In less than five minutes of game play Hard-lock!, frozen solid... The real sad thing is...this game use to work perfectly! It ran flawlessly for weeks until I had to uninstall it. Then ever since reinstall... This game, in my opinion is piece of s***! I have never had so much trouble with a piece of software as I am having with this, and to be quite honest, it has taken all the fun of it out. However, if someone has any other solution other what I mentioned above I am all ears! My specs: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ PNY GeForce 6600 GT 256 1024 mb Ram
Well i cant help but i sure am having the same problems. AMD64 3500+ x600xt pci-e 1024 mb ram Be carefull with those 600 series, BF2 fried my 6600gt and i dont know what to get next, this current card is just a temp one.
Software can't fry video cards, but they put a lot stress on them and if the card has any imperfections the card will die. Like the heatsink being faulty, fan not running to RPM (or quit working) static...etc but It's just like anything in the world sometimes you buy something and it lasts far longer than it should and you can't break it even when you want to, then you get stuff that never works and looking at it only screws it up even more. I have had just that with video cards and a lot of people don't realize how sensitive these things are. I had a friend a couple of years back buy a new card and man was he excited. After about an hour he called me up stressed as h** and wondering why his card wasn't working. So, when we went step by step on his install process I learn that he was sooooo excited to get this card in he just cracked his case right there on the rec room carpet, while working on his hands and knees. Hmmmm can we say......static?! That's right he fried his card and it was out of the box for just seconds. Nothing like the feeling like you are about to step on your heart. That really sucked. Pain it seems is the only way people learn. That is why I only buy PNY stuff, they have the best warranty out there I feel. Where else can you get a three year-old GeForce 4 Ti 4600 replaced for free?!
