ok so i just built my new pc installed my bf2 and now it crashes to desktop in the middle of loading the map, never did this to me on my old i i think, anyone info on this get back at me
are your drivers all updated? bios/video card/sound card? did you let ya firewall except the bf2.exe? did you patch the game with the latest 1.41 patch? did you close all other programs before you start bf2, are you using any virus/spyware programs? ingame setting match to the same mod and game version?
it is also happening to my hl2 and css they load up then begin to load map then crash to desktop or restart pc, but my supreme commander ran fine.

try scanning for viruses and spyware, and close some unnessary programs at start up and do the usual pc maintence like disk clean up and defrag and are you trying to play single player or online play? if so what is your connection like? and is bf2 in your firewall exception list? double check that and make sure ya firewall is letting the bf2.exe get through, also try clearing out your bf2 cache in C:/my documents/bf2/mods/bf2/cache and clear out anything there, BUT do not delete the cache folder, just whats inside
i got bf2 and css working, now i think its a video card prob cuz when i connected to a server, i spawned jumped in a vehicle and it froze with repeating the ingame sounds, also i was driving infront of one of the burning car props on gulf of omen and it was all yellow, a texture prob?
if your running windows xp here is the driver you need for ya video card ForceWare Release 162 also is your video card or pc over heating?? and add another GB of ram
Bf2 needs at least 2 gig to run smooth. are you using hardware sound ? the eax option i believe ? If you are, untick that option. This could easily be a sound card error as much as a video error. What people do not realize is, your sound card is a piece of hardware and can cause freezing as well as other effects. Picture getting in a car, starting it, and trying to drive somewhere. Can be a couple different things. Transmission, drive shaft, engine, gearbox, throttle cable, soo on and so forth.
This sounds like a vid card issue, but if it was doing the sound loops, it sounds like the eax sound issue also.
i got that driver for my card, ill run my bf2 then check the temps right ater and see what the temp is, it is currently at 48C (118F) my sound info RealTek HD audio output drivers: RTKHDAud.sys version:5.10.0000.5377 date: 3/1/2007
