can anybody tell me the correct syntax to get a linux server up and running? I only have remote access to the server, the error message after typing screen ./start.sh says 'must be connected to a terminal' This server does not have a terminal.

try nohup ./start.sh > console.log 2>&1

will run it in background and attach console output to console.log, to view in realtime just tail -f console.log

thanx .. but wouldn't screen -dmS be a wiser option than nohup?
