So theres not enough time to save up and get a gigabyte R 9700 pro so im goin to buy a gigabyte R9600 pro. it'll still run it good just not great. gabe: In comparison with the high-end Nvidia card, the ATI Radeon 9600 and 9800 Pro perform much better in the Half-Life 2 test's "full precision" mode. According to Newell's presentation, the GeForce 5900 Ultra scores 30fps in this test, whereas the Radeon 9600 Pro scores 48fps and the Radeon 9800 Pro scores just over 60fps.

is that on full details?? i will get the 128MB one theres three 64, 128, 256. ill get the 256 if i can but if i can't dosent matter -Talon

whoa, i thought radeon 9800 pro will get lower fps somehow than 9600 pro. but then again in this graph it doesnt say 9600 pro, it just sais 9600 http://www.halflife2files.com/screenshots/32/news2/6513_2.jpg

Heh, I cant believe they would put out a chart like that. Thats bound to cause alot of confusion among prospective card shoppers. That chart has nothing to do with fps comparisons among those 5 cards. Notice the dollar sign behind fps/$. Its a chart that shows which card will give the best VALUE per DOLLAR. Basically it tells me that the 9600 is one of the cheapest cards up there.

Talon id wait a day or 2 before half life 2 ships before u buy your card cos from what i hear theres some new gear comming out at the end of this month so with any luck the 9700 might drop in price. It would be worth waiting for.

Those bar charts were so pretty that I just had to frame them! Im pretty sure Nvidia will come up with something to close the gap on these figures, but in the meantime, champagne anyone?

Little surprised to see the 9600 best the 9700 in the c17 demo, and very surprised to see it beat almost every fx5900 score. This is like an ATI fanboy's dream come true. hl2benches.jpg

Man I wish I hadn't switched from ATI to Geforce now. I'll probably have to play in the lowest setting.
