NEWS POST HERE --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely this shows that there's conflicting sources on this, there's false information flying about all over the place but even so...I'm more posting this to talk about valve.

I think valve has conducted itself very poorly. The above writer defends valve by stating that valve never said that the door breaking scene wasn't scripted, but forgive me if I'm wrong but hasn't valve purposely mislead the public with this information. Very little media of HL2 has been released, when Gabe Newell makes the claim that the AI is intelligent enough to carry out complicated processes, everyone is going to think back to the door breaking video.

But the door breaking is scripted.........cheap tactics.....

Then there's valve's comments, again made by Gabe on Nvidia.......

That's highly unprofessional, could be considered rude, and lacks formality. No matter how annoyed he has been with Nvidia I don't agree with making statments like 'our customers will be pissed' it just doesn't seem right. I wouldn't say that myself.

Then of course there's the lack of a release on the 9th, with very little prior notification. All I'm saying is, I haven't been too over blown by Gabe Newell's conduct. He seems to be considered a God among the community, but I can't help but feel it's partial 'sucking up to the game developer' rather than the fact he's been extremely helpful. I personally think it's the job of a game developer to provide constant updates on the product anyway instead of making it secret, regular progress reports would have been much better than blind promises. Perhaps we wouldn't have had so much trouble with hacking and fact and fiction on the game's progress if they'd actually given more proof as to what they had.

I agree but i think if valve had released more upto date media on the game some asshole will still have hacked the game.

I suppose you can call him unprofessional and what not..but the thing is we know so little about VALVe software.. It is somewhat of a mistic company. They don't put out many games..the ones they do put out are abstract.. They're not very involved in the community.. They don't put out news posts and what not..

I wouldn't call them unprofessional.. I would just say they don't communicate enough, haha.

yeah, like where is the offical Half Life 2 website with updates by gabe newell and who not. why are there not forums that have people from valve includeing themselfs in conversations. They are very secrative and dont say much, keep their promises and don't promote their game a hole lot (i should think before i talk). i totaly agree brookster.
