I did a lot of mapmaking on Battlecraft v1.0, but the method to shrink the file size doesn't work for BC v1.1. Any suggestions?

right now my map is 85 meg instead of the 17 that it was under v1.0.

The old method was going into battlecraft and selecting Copy Map

this didn't work when i tried it with 1.1

any help is greatly appreciated, since it is the last step before I send it out to people

thanks

Don't you just mean, "move it to Mapping"?

you can actually compress them, i compressed a map from 75MB (about 75MB anyway, although it was defently above 70MB) and i compressed it to 17MB, and after that i still added more custom skins and it went to 20MB, so if i compressed it again it would most probebly go back to 17MB. What you need to do is download RFA extractor if you dont have it already and extract your map to a specific location. And then, compress it with a program called gMake RFA, you can use four threads at once which means it will compress them 4 times faster by using four streams insted of one. Its like a graphics card having 1 pipeline vs one having four. Well anyway, you tick compress RFA output or something so it reduces file sizes and it will compress, but be warned, it will take an AGE, especially if it has single player init because those RAW files are huge and take a hell of a lot of time to compress so i would suggest leaving it on over night. With my own map, it took me 2hrs 45mins to compress, however i was using a 1.7 ghz pentium 4.
