Hello. For many times I open BFV from my desktop or from the CD menu, then my CD spin a few seconds then my screen turn BLACK and my computer is at a STAND STILL!!??? What's going on here?? Is it a firewall problem? I turn off Norton AV Firewall and it still happen often. Each time this happen I try to shut down the BFV program by Ctrl+Alt-Del, but it say BFV is not responding. So I have to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn off the computer. My computer specs : Dell 8400, Windows XP Pro, Pentium 4 - 3.6 Ghz processor, 2 Gig RAM, 256 Mb Nvidia video card, 250 Gig Hard drive. Thanks for any suggestion.

After I turn OFF the Windows Automatic Update, STEAM started to work!! Yeah! icon_biggrin.gif I think the Windows Automatic Update is causing the problem. Is it possible that Windows Automatic Update cause a program to freeze? Let's hope Microsoft don't sent out some security updates soon because I will be in the mist.

Well on my wife's machine, I have had Windows Update take up soo much CPU time that it made her machine act like it was an 286! So it is possible for a program to cause that to happen. Regarding your first post, why did you shut down your computer??? Were you not able to kill BFV with the task manager?? If you are a little computer savy, I might suggest that you try procexplorer. This little gem is basically the task manager on sterroids!!!

Like I said I hold down the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys to turn on the Task Manager. Then I choose to END PROGRAM for BFV but it said "NOT RESPONDING". So I have to hold down the power button for a few seconds to shut it down the hardware way. Tell me more about this program 'procexplorer' - where do I get it?
