Overclocking is running your processor, video, system bus faster than it is set to from the "factory". There is fair amount to learn before you should attempt to overclock.

A good example is my pc, stock it is an AMD XP1700 (1453mhz). I am currently running at 2055mhz, about 600mhz faster than it is rated. There are many factors that come into play with overclocking, one major one is HEAT and possible system damage due to heat. If you have a OEM system, Dell, HP, Gateway, etc... you can almost forget about overclocking as these sytems usually dont have any options for overclocking.

For more info on this go to http://www.extremeoverclocking.com , this is a good site for info and help. Good luck
