I run a p4 3.6 with 1gig DDR and a fx5950 ultra all on a 1mb ADSL line. I should not get much lag, so I get a little pi**ed when it happens in BFV. By chance I downloaded a program called FreeRAM XP Pro 1.40 which tells you how much free RAM you have. Last night I had 800mhz free before I ran BFV and to begin with the game was smooth, after about 2 hours there were 44 players in the server and the game was frantic. I noticed the lag was getting worse and worse (at first I thought it was just the number of players). I dropped to desktop to find that I only had 150mhz of free RAM left :( , I ran the program which got me back up to 750mhz and BFV ran like a dream agian. I dont know if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my RAM but this has helped me no end, I hope it will be usefull to others.
I didn't make it!
That sounds like a classic issue with the good ol P4 ... do you have this problem in any other games or is it BFV specifically?
I have heard of this issue, a reboot does the trick also, but then you have to log out and log back into game. Glad to see someone made a program that simulates that efficiently.
(in essence P4's run so damn fast from boot they chew up there resources very fast when processing programs and or applications. I would assume that BFV is a resource hungry game?? if so that is why. Its not that BFV is hoggin it all - well kinda it is - just that between game and cpu your chewin up mem faster then it refreshes.)
Yes, it is just BFV that I have this problem with. The only reason I mentioned it was that it appeared as lag in the game and if other people are suffering from what they think is lag it may be worth them trying this. By using this program before running BFV I can now play in servers even with a ping of 150 sometimes and it's as smooth as a babies bum. :)
