Hey guys, I just recently registered for the forums and was wondering if anyone here could help me with some problems I am having. I recently reinstalled Battlefield Vietnam and when I load the game up and I get to the menu screen and click update for the server list my mouse lags around the screen and it shows my ping anywhere from 500-1500. I have a cable modem, and any other game I play I ping around 30-50 so I know it isn’t my connection, I have all of the minimum requirements. I had BFV installed a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t have any problems with it (I can’t remember why I uninstalled it). I made sure when I uninstalled it that I deleted all of the files. Anyway; I have tried reinstalling the game, I’ve tried installing the game then installing the 1.2 patch and then installing punkbuster and it still has the lag. I have changed the allowrefreshrate to 1 and the soundbuffersize to 400-1000, that didn’t work either. Any suggestions? Also I am the administrator for my computer, so thats not the problem either. Computer specs Pentium IV 2.0 Ghz Windows XP service pack 2 1.0GB RAM Radeon 9600 SE SB Audigy 2 ZS All of my drivers are up to date. Like I said before the game ran fine two weeks ago and I didn't have any problems with it. I didn't have any problems until after I reinstalled it this last weekend. If you need any more information let me know.

*Moved to Problems, etc.*

You have the 1.21 patch and all that, you're totally up to date? And the 1.21 worked fine before right?

Seems to be a lot of this "reinstalled and now it doesn't work" problem going around since 1.21 was released. Frightens me to think that I am about to upgrade my HD and will have to reinstall BFV!

I haven't seen any official answer on the problem yet...

I find that service pack 2 really slowed down my pc when I was playing max payne 2 becuase before I installed service pack 2 I got around 60 fps then with service pack 2 I got around 40 fps. Also the computer took longer to load up with service pack 2.

Cause SP2 SUCKS!!!! GO BACK TO SP1 and fixes alot of problems with everything, I will not upgrade to SP2, still running SP1

Might wanna try switchign back to sp1 and give it a try. Unless you had SP2 on before when it worked fine.

Two things here: 1. I reinstalled, and decided to grab all the patches and install them in the order they came out. See info here. 2. I installed XP Pro w/ SP2 when I upgraded my HD and have had ZERO problems. If there is a problem with SP2, it's a problem in UPGRADING from SP1 to SP2. The full XP w/ SP2 has given me no trouble in the past week.

I also had a prob with BFV (no servers showing in the list) and had to reinstall.

This is what I did and all was well.

1. uninstalled via add/remove programs. 2. Copied my profile folder and deleted the BFV folder. 3. Deleted the bfv.exe and blackscreen.exe's from Zonealarm. 4. Rebooted. 5. Installed from CD 6. Installed ALL the patches in order, 1.1.14, 1.1 to 1.2 then 1.2 to 1.21 then Poe .21. 7. Replaced my profile folder. 8. Added the 2 exe's to Zonealarm.

I run XP Pro which was upgraded to SP1 and then SP2.

The only problem I have had since is that sometimes when I try to run BFV I get the splash screen then it drops back to desktop, the only fix I have found for that is a reboot.

Hope that helps.
