Perhaps this has been spoken of before, but it is really getting on my nerves.

I deal quite well with the enemy ships attacking Starbase 12, and have plenty of power and no damage left over from the fight. I raise all my power to full (sensors, engines, weapons and shields) and yet when I target a freighter to be destroyed, Felix either flys around or doesn't shoot, or when he does shoot he shoots very little. I've tried everything I can think of, and I am not any good with tactical, though it seems perhaps this will probably be the only way to solve this problem.

has anyone else had problems with this?

Just switch to manual targeting. If that's not a good idea, switch to the outside view. Hit F2, then select the warpcore. then just press the phaser key and hit will hit the freighter for u, and the core's are not that hard to take out. If it is getting too close, target the aft section by selecting engines, and then engage tractors to slow it down. Use torpedo's too, they're easy to hit as I don't think they will evade.

If you can't do that, I would recommend to do a few quickbattle engagements with freighters as targets so you get used to how the controls work.
