not to be mean or anything, but why did u post this here? this has nothing to do with Bridge Commander (unless u learn C++ in order to understand Python).

RemanWarbirdWhat do you want to know about BC scripting?

well I no it sounds abit far fetch at the moment but i want to no how to make you walk around the bridge soooo bad but i also want to learn how to do it properly like how do you how many spaces to put after a word and how many spaces you have to press for a new line like this

#include using namespace std;

int main () { count << "Hello World\n"; return 0;

thats from the very 1st thing you learn in c++ Programming but what i want to no is how many times you ment to start a new line some times you press return once and other twice.hope this makes sense thanks ill explain abit better later its late now thanks :)

in my experience, Python is more like a Java type setup than C++. some of the ways of doing things more closely matches java. I know they're both designed as object-oriented and are designed to mimic each other, but Java is a closer comparison for noobs.

Ok. Not tryin' to be mean, but.......

Dude. Your telling me that that is far fetched. It's nearly impossible. DO you relize how much you would have to do????

-have to recreat the bridge in BC in your own 3d prgram -create a program that would allow you to move around -create a program the would let u use the keyboad to move around

Not trying to discourage u, but that is VERY far fetched. Good luck with C++ tho. Relize that I'm not trying to hurt your feelings or anything. I suck at scripting anyways. :D

Oddly enough, it is possible. Completely possible.

Why hasn't it been done, you ask?

Simple. Reason #1) It's not as fun as you might think. So what if you walk around the bridge.. then what? But that's not one of the bigger reasons.. there's two more.

Reason #2) If you click on one of your crew, the menu's wouldn't work right at all. There's no way to account for this, so if you suddenly decided you needed action from Felix, clicking on him would make the menu do some straaange things.

Reason #3, and one of the biggest) the bridges arent fully complete. If you walked around and looked behind one of the stations on the Intrepid bridge, you'd find parts missing.

there's others, but you get the idea. It's just not worth the trouble, it'd be a pretty crappy mod anyways lol.

Hey Sneaker, I don't think it would be that bad if you put time and effort into it. I think I know what the guy really wants to do and I think it's cool. On your reason #2, if you script it right, it should work just fine. I mean look at some of the FPS games out there. You have characters walking around, interacting with other characters nad items where menues pop-up. I'm not saying it would be easy. It's definately hard. But it's also definately possible to do with complete success, just as long as you put some effort into it. For reason #3: Incomplete bridges... well, I'm sure if you get the right modders (who are willing to do the job) you can get some complete bridges. Look at all the great things you have done to BC, that once were thought not to be possible. Believe it or not, you probably inspired this guy to go on and do something like this. I think he should go for it if he really wants this thing to happen.

Oh I'm not saying he shouldn't go ahead and do it if he wants, by all means: go right ahead! I'm just giving an objective viewpoint on the mod.. trying to subtly hint that this is not something you want to start modding right off the bat. Learn BC's scripts... do some smaller mods, then tackle this project. Unfortunately, this is always my advice and people rarely heed it... then get disgusted with the game because it wont do what they want. but anyways, i'm rambling.

The reason im saying that menus would do some weird things is that BC was not designed to be a FPS type game. Menu's are designed to pop up and move the camera from a static bridge position, and its still under debate about wether its fixable or not.
