I think the game is just great. I love it, but i can't fight to save my life. The problem started with the shake down cruise where both Klingons and the Akira class fight me all at once. The Klingons blast me to hell and back before i even saw where the shots were comming from....and i was playing on EASY!!!!

What the heck is wrong with me that i can't figure out how is it that i was suppose to beat these guys? The guide on gameFAQs.com states that this should be an easy task with a sovereign class ship using quantum torpedoes. Well it ain't that easy. After i lost there terribly, i moved on to the mission where i have to search the dust cloud and then fight the Warbirds. I lost once again. Repeated that mission 3 more times with same results. THen i decided to practice on single battle missions. I fight one warbird and i can beat it if i use the external view and the keyboard and mouse controls (manual controls)...and that only if i stay behind the ship and keep firing while not allowing warbird to turn and fire back. As soon as i up the antie and set 2 birds against my sovereign, i stay with the same tactic but this time the second bird blasts the heck out of me no matter how much i roll and twist to preserve shields and rotate phaser arcs. Two just seems too much. Their rate of fire seems much higher. My phasers are ineffective most of the time and a few times i manage to hit with Quantums i never hit the important area. I go for shield generators first, then for the forward disruptor beam since there is only one on the front but by the time i destroy it with phasers i am blasted into millions of pieces by this disruptor and by the the other ship from behind.

Just seems impossible to me even on easiest setting. So what am i doing wrong...I KNOW I'M DOING SOMETHING WRONG WHEN I'M THE ONLY ONE HAVING PROBLEMS ON EASY SETTING IN JUST THE THIRD EPISODE.

Please explain to me in as much detail as you can, what it is you do, step by step if you can. What first what second and so on (for ex. what engineering changes do you make before fighting...what percentages of what power....also what do you set the tactical station to? Automatic? Target at will? or do you use the outside mode and use the manual controls???

sorry for the long descriptions but its frustrating me that i can't figure this game out after so many tries.

thanks for any help you can provide!

Well Everyone has there problems. mine was at the karoon i didnt have a clue on what to do once i attached the tractor beam:rolleyes: Try using A modded sovvy from bcfiles or edit the hardpoints yourself if you want to make your ship more powerful also attack the bridge or warpcore. if you destroy one of these the entire ship explodes

hehe depends on how much better i am after your tips :D

I will attempt to play around more and see what happens.

But could anyone just tell me if they let the Leutenant command tactical at full or do you control the tactical and maneuvaring your self EVEN on the easiest setting (the First Officer i think)???

Is it possible on the easiest setting to beat the romulans in that fight in E3 by the dust cloud???...while letting the leutenant fully control tactical???

OK I'm very disappointed. I can't beat the two warbirds no matter what. I target bridge, the warp drives...nothing. They are quick and evade quickly just as i do. I am just not quick enough to run to a distance and fire torpedoes at the warp drives. Shooting phasers at max. into the bridge doesn't do anything. In about 1 min. the warbirds have damaged my top and bottom shield. For a ship that is suppose to have tough shields (regenerative) and ablative armour, i find it to be performing very poorly. First off, the shields gave up way to early, and secondly, the phasers are rotated frequently but i fail to see the many numbers of phaser banks that i have...simply can't use as many as the ship is said to have. Torpedoes? wow that really blew me away. Only one forward and one rear. The rear doesn't seem to fire when i click. And why does it seem to me like the torpedoe bay fires quad spread of quantums and then takes sooooooo long to cool off to fire more. Could it be that i am soooo bad at this that i can't beat two warbirds even at EASY (FIrst Officer) level??? I simply can't evade both birds and can't do much damage with my phasers on the bridge, disruptor emitter or the nacels of the warbird. what do i do??? Any help??? Any detailed explanation??? What do you set your shields, weapons and engines to in the Engineering before the battle??? Do you constantly check the engineering or let Brex do his job his way??? DO you let Saval do tactical or fight manually like i do every time i loose??? Is there some tip i'm missing that would save my ass a few more minutes to manage to disable at least one of the birds so i can deal easier with the other warbird????

Please help! I'm desparate....i have no idea how to win and move on in this game...i won't give up but i do need some hint...help ...any help!!!!

The Tutorial in the single player tell you how to defeat the Warbirds. Attack thier subsystems with your phasers setting on "low". Specificly the Cloaking Device or the Bridge. Damage to the Bridge will slow down the repair time. This will damage thier systems more quickly. The Cardassians are easier. When you take them on in a schermish do this...

Fight at "close quarters" and lock on to them with your Tractor beams. Also target thier "subsystems" with your Phaser setting on "low". For the Galor Class, target her "impulse engiens". For the Keldon Class, target her "Compressors". Also take over the "Manual" targeting system. Don't rely on the Tactical A.I to do it all. Use these tactics, and you should be able to break threw some of the single player boards.

actualy, I thought you were supposed to go after the warbirds weapons, specificly the nacelle canons. Those to the most damage.

As far as cardassians, they are weak aft and ventraly on both the galor and kedlon. And dont use low phaser power unless you are trying to disable something. If anything, boot phasers to 125 %.

As far as those 2 warbirds, you don't need to beat them both. The concentrate fire on one of them. I used quantums and maxed phasers to peg one dorsally and in the head area. And just kept nailing him. Also, getting them when their cloaking does alot of damage. Just beat on one long enough and you'll win.

LOL I go with what works. I rarely boost power to 125% it will drain your main and reserve power faster. I always go for the subsystems I mentioned. You can take the ships out much faster. Give it a try, with your Phaser setting on "low". I've been using that tactic since the game came out.

So let me see here. You're saying set phasers to low, then target subsystems...meaning the bridge more precisely since that will slow down THEIR REPAIR time??? That's really cool to know. See those are the kind of tips i'm looking for. I just need to know what i should try. I have no idea where to start otherwise.

Oh and having to disable one warbird only, that is the trick. I can't disable one since the other is taring me appart. It destroys me before i destroy my target. I try and stay out of my target's way and beat him by fallowing him and such but the other warbird fallows me and destroys me with such rapid fire of the disruptor pulses and disruptor beam. Its terrible!!! This warbird seems to always have power to fire. I struggle to find a working phaser arc that will allow me to continually fire at the ship in front of me. Is there a way to shoot from 2 phaser arcs??? And does anyone know if there are other torpedoe tubes besides one in front and one in back of a Sovereign Class???

thanks for all the tips once again...i will attempt to use them tomorrow when i play again.

Hope i get some of this and get past the dreaded episode 3.

thanks !
