From the petition:

To whom it may concern, A substantial following of online gamers have been let down by the lackluster, problem riddled PC version of Call of Duty 2. Recent indications that there will be an abandonment of PC versions of any further Call of Duty projects has stunned the community. Call of Duty was built off of the backs and wallets of your PC user base

Say what? IW abandoning the PC? where have you been living?

COD4 PC has a whole plethora of features that the console version wont have. Just check out the forums for news about what is going on with the PC version of COD4.

Far from being neglected in favour of the consoles, COD4 PC is receiving special treatment to the point that the PC version will be the ONLY version of the game which is not identical to the other (console) versions:

1. No ranked servers for PC

2. an Uber Server config file where EVERYTHING can be turned off or on

3. 32+ people on a MP server. Console have 16 max

4. Anti-Cheat out of the box. Something which the consoles dont need

5. Http Redirect out of the box. Helping to support the modders and mappers.

The "petition" you linked to seems completely unconcerned with any expansion for COD2, and more about having an ignorant, and uninformed rant at IW/AVTI about some imagined abandonment of the PC to the consoles.

Admittedly, it was started in June 2006 but is now OUT OF DATE!!

Please dont link to such rubbish again. It was ignored then, and it would be/will be even more ignored now, as it has no foundation to it.

As for an expansion for COD2 itself, check this out:

Rise of the Resistance

Its a community-lead expansion project, with sponsorship from Activision itself That's proper backing from the publishers of the Call of Duty series.

McCoda;3858833Hey sign this to get activision 2 make a x-pack for COD 2!! Save Call of Duty 2 for PC Gamers - Petition - Sign this petition here - Signature page - GoPetition.com

Tally (see post above mine) is leading an unofficial expansion pack called 'Rise of the Resistance'.

It chronicles battles of the various resistance movements during WWII.

It looks really nice.

I only wish I had CoD2 so I could play it, but I'm done with the CoD series for now:cya:. BF2 is where I'm at (at least until I can play CoD4:D)

Well, personally I am still waiting on an answer to why Activsion never commissioned an expansion to COD2. Although I do not agree with a lot that is in this petition, and yes it is quite outdated, I think a few were hoping for a UO type expansion to address many of the flaws in COD2, as well as to have a more updated and higher resolution graphics to COD 1, which by now in some regards is very outdated.

Yes I know, and hear all the time how this mod or that mod has fixed some of the issues with COD2, but really, it hasn't. I think there is a good reason why COD1 is still quite popular, and many were hoping that Activision would continue on the same path with COD2.

More so, in my opinion, many are just not as accepting of COD4 as a true "Call of Duty" title due to the fact it is set in modern times. I think it should be said though that there is very little chance the gameplay will end up being as ridiculous and childish as BF2's can be.

Any plans of a demo for Rise of the Resistance before the final is released? Last I heard you were on track for an end of year release for the expansion. Perhaps a demo when the holiday season kicks in would help draw more attention to it. I know I'm sounding US biased when I say this but right around Thanksgiving (Nov 25) might be good timing for it if you do.

Owned. That, and you're absolutely correct. Glad to see you're still leading that project Tally, I'll be around for it when the time comes.

Call of Duty 2 sold no where near as well as the original game did, that, and many companies claimed that the game didn't do much to set itself apart from the genre or even the first game.

The developers played it safe by spooning us more of what we already had, but wrapped up shinier, didn't work out so well.
