I was going to the store yesterday and I saw that in the electronics section that they had CoD2. I had enough to buy it, but hesitated because of all the negative comments I have heard about it. My question to you is:

Call of Duty 2: worth the $30?

Sure thing. Worth 30 bucks just for the SP.

No one has criticised the SP side of COD2 (if you discount the realism fanatics who say it either isnt realistic or historically accurate enough). Its the MP side of it that gets all the criticism, and thats because its so demanding on your PC.

In fact, make sure your PC can handle COD2 before you even buy it. If not, then dont bother buying it for PC. Get it on XBoX 360, as it was designed for high-end systems, and its cheaper to buy a 360 and play it on there, then it is to pay for a PC which will handle COD2 in DX9 with everything maxed out.

You can still play COD2 on lower-end systems, just dont expect to be able to run it in DX9.

I got the CoD Warchest as a gift from my kid; it has CoD, United Offensive & CoD2. She said she paid $30 US for it. I think it was a helluva bargain. CoD2 is a great game.:)

I lucked out and bought mine for $15 at Half Price Books, a trade-in someone let go of in new condition when retailers were still charging $50. It was quite a relief considering a month or two prior I had missed Fry's Black Friday sale on it for $23. I paid about $35 used for Far Cry a couple years ago, which is probably the game I've gotten the most use out of. COD2 doesn't have quite the sp re-playability due to considerably less available custom maps and mods for it. With the advent of Rise of the Resistance being made though, it's certainly looking better in that respect. As it is now though, if you primarily use it for sp like I do, I would say $30 is about right. Note that if you haven't already purchased Call of Duty and United Offensive though, you can get all 3 for $40, which is an exceptional deal.

Actually $19.99 would be better spend getting Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

Red Orchestra is everything COD2 should have or could have been.

Thats entirely a matter of opinion. RO is very slow, and plodding. COD2 is fast, like the previous game - COD1.

It would depend on what type of game a person likes to play. personally, I have always liked the quake-type games that COD1 and COD2 are. But RO is way, way too slow for me most of the time.

The thing I find really hard to accept are people who liked COD1 or UO, and then say they like RO because its more like them than COD2 is. This I fiercely disagree with - RO is nothing like UO or COD1. They arent even in the same ball park.

which product?

With 30 bucks you can instead buy Battlefield 2 and wait for the excellent Forgotten Hope 2 Mod to come out but I already have both. Still it's your money, your decision.
