In the first CoD there was an expansion, as everyone knows, called United Offensive which included vehicles and the like. My question is: Will there be an expansion for CoD2, much like United Offensive???

If they can squeeze even a drop of money out of a title more then they already have, they will.
Probably. More money = good. I doubt a whole new COD3 game will come out next so we will very likely see an expansion for COD2 in the future. And I don't think it will stick to the COD2 way of infantry only, ATVI will tap into the large amount of people who didn't buy COD2 solely because there are no vehicles in MP, or UO-ish features.
There is a major problem with COD2 as regards any expansion on the scale of UO, and thats the MAX GAMESTATE problem - there is only 16k of memory cache to play with in COD2, so any large maps and movable tanks are out of the question unless they take it up to at least 36k (as they did with UO).
Of course they can do this with COD2, as they did with UO (COD1 started at 16k as well). But until they do, any large maps and tanks are out of the question.
Vehicles ruined CoD. I hope they just add more maps, and weapons.
Vehicles are something good in CoD. I hope they will make an expansion pack for CoD 2 and put vehicles like they put it in CoD UO.

what do you mean the vehicles rocked! and just think all the tanks and armored cars in COD2 would be sweet in a Expansion!!
I highly doubt that they will release an expansion. No, instead I think they will simply come out with a Call of Duty 3. My information is based on information from activision's and gamespot sites. It also comes from a modeler/mesher who did contract work on COD 2. He told myself that he does not know for a fact that their will be a COD 3, but said that they did hire a small group back in June to work on the next COD 2 title. He also said from what he gathers the game will shift focus from Europe to the Pacific.
The following is from gamepsot's website.
Infinity Ward working on Call of Duty 3, new IP
Job listing shows internal Activision studio already working on third WWII shooter, possibly for multiple next-gen consoles. Call of Duty 2 won't hit the PC or Xbox 360 until this fall, but that isn't stopping Infinity Ward from starting work on its sequel--and an all-new game. The Activision-owned developer recently posted a job listing on its Web site for a "Senior Next-Gen Programmer (New IP and COD3)," indicating that it has already begun preproduction on Call of Duty 3 as well as an unnamed original intellectual property. The job description gave further evidence that a third Call of Duty is in the works--and may likely be released for more than one next-generation console. "We are ramping up teams for upcoming Call of Duty titles as well as new IP," it read. The listing then said the ideal candidates would be "people who are interested in creating cutting edge games on both the PC and all of the new next-generation console platforms." (Emphasis added.) The listing's last sentence implies that either Call of Duty 3 or the new mystery game will be released for the PlayStation 3 and possibly even the Nintendo Revolution as well as the Xbox 360. Currently, the Xbox 360 Call of Duty 2 is Infinity Ward's only announced next-generation console game. However, while Call of Duty 3's existence is almost certainly confirmed by the Infinity Ward job listing, it has not been officially announced yet. Activision had also not responded to requests for comment as of press time.
i think your probably right - i predict a move straight to COD3.

"likely be released for more than one next-generation console." That's sad. When they say "more than one console" I wonder if they mean PS3 and xbox 360.:( Especially since their move towards the kiddy console crowd with the release of COD2:( Maybe my comment about receiving coupons in the box for COD3 Legos, coloring books, and action figures wasn't that far off the mark eh? hope this info is wrong....
