hi heres some movies we made before as DOGS now as CLEFTS, were an aging cod 2 clan that has played the whole cod series and like taking the michael and having a laugh, and bashing peoples heads in the game :0wned: well heres a link to our latest vid watership down dedicated to killing bunny hoppers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r-UTletfhQ and a link to our video group where you can watch other classics such as dogback mountain and cols song http://www.youtube.com/group/cleft :naughty:
What did you use to record?
i used fraps to record, adobe premier pro to edit and movie maker to shrink, though movie maker is a good way to learn and you can get a free version of fraps but it has a screener showing. :naughty:
how do i upload this vid or some of our others to the call of duty filefront site? was going to put it in cod 2 movie section?
Get in touch with the team at FF submission and they will advise you from there:
Some things that didn't make sense to me. Much if not most of the first one was silly bunny cartoon stuff, then when it cut to the game action it was just as silly if not more so. Also, why use a nice editor like Adobe Premier Pro & capture prog like Fraps, then absolutely ruin any quality you could have gotten out of them by compressing with Movie Maker and hosting it on a site that downgrades the quality even further via the streaming method it uses? I got part way through the first vid and gave up. Anyone that has a top notch editor like Premier Pro in their hands ought to be able to do much better. I certainly hope you didn't invest a serious amount of money in Premier Pro because you definately aren't making anywhere near full use of it's potential.
I have been making game videos for some time now, have invested no money whatsoever in editors, use only freeware editing tools and a $10 capture program and I get way better results in video quality. I also record all my movies solo without the help of a clan and I dare say the content is much more exciting to watch.
Sorry if that sounds crass to you but I really meant it as constructive criticism. By using VirtuaDub to enhance the clips before running them through Movie Maker, using a reasonable bit rate and resolution, and hosting the video on Filefront, you would actually get better results, even if you use a cheap capture prog like Game Cam Lite.
Hosting via Filefront is as easy as going to their free file hosting page, registering, uploading your file to your personal filepage, then clicking Submit to Filefront if you want to put it on their main database.
Submitting a file to their main data base takes the file out of your personal page, but it will still show below in your files submitted to FF. On your filepage you have complete control over modifying, categorizing, and deleting the file, whereas when it's submitted to FF you don't. Thus, it's best to make sure you have everything the way you want it BEFORE submitting to FF's main data base, including proper editing, detailed description, title, etc.
The benefit of submitting to FF is everyone that downloads the file will have one World and one Euro server in the download list, and the file will be accessable to anyone that uses FF's main search engine. This means more people viewing it, and more people able to download it with good speed. I suggest you upload a copy of each file to both FF and your personal filepage if you want to retain copies that you can categorize and modify.
You can also submit files directly to the respective game sites that FF has, like CODfiles.com. There are instructions on how to do so on these sites. It basically entails sending them a zipped copy of the file to the email address they list, along with a description, screenshots, or any other vital details you want to include, like install instructions if it's a map.
The files on their individual sites get a lot of attention, better even than FF's main data base.
Please don't take this as flame, I'm just saying you could learn a lot more about the tools you're using, the content and composition of the videos, and how to display them properly. It's really not that hard to learn.;)
It wasnt a flame. Nice post, informative (taught me some things I didnt know), and helpful in its criticism.
well everyone has their opinion, the video watership downsyndrome is a p**s take, it is meant to be silly and its sole intention is to take the micky out of bunny hoppers who we feel ruin games. i appreciate constructive critisism but would suggest you watch the whole movie first before jumping to conclusions(as you may have got the story). Again i have my own style of bizzare movie making & editing and this was my 1st attempt using premier pro, which i got given to me and im still learning. if you view our other videos you will see they are done in THE CLEFTS own crazy style of humour, cols song and dead people are classics, & dogback mountain is a p**s take of brokeback mountain (which also needs to be watched to end as joke is at end). i shall look into virtuedub and the advice by yourself and tally about uploading vids in the future. i dont consider this a flame, and wouldnt give a monkeys if it was, we like the vids and my editing can only get better. thanks for advice.
well, the thing about jokes are, that if the humour is so esoteric, no one will get it. Same with "in jokes" - if someone is outside the circle, no one will get it.
If someone has to watch a film in order to understand a cod frag video, then its only going to appeal to a limited number of people.
Good attempt, but perhaps you should broaden your horizons and aim at the general gaming populace.
