What do you guys think of the music in the single campaign of call of duty 2. I think the first call of duty had some excellent moments when the music was just perfect like the Russian charge at red square and the end of the pegasus bridge level. So rate the music out of 10

OK, I guess, maybe 8 out of 10.

The music is cliched, unoriginal, tired, boring motifs, no feeling and oh so predictable. The music is James Horner lite. It doesn't deviate from the tried and tested method. It plays it safe and is incredibly boring. It's music that is totally forgettable and fails on most levels. Like James Horner this music uses cheap cresendos to try and create some emotion yet it fails miserably.Like his music it sounds like an amalgamation of older better scores. For a game based on the last great war I was expecting shimmering textures, winding passages, blinding cresendos, fragile beauty, pure music. However I have come away feeling cheated. I was expecting to hear quoted pieces from Eric Wolfgang Korngold, Gustav Holst, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich, Antonin Dvorak and Wagner. What I wasn't expecting was a tired rip-off from such uninspiring scores as Saving Private Ryan/Enemy at the Gates. Total Score 1/10

lol hes almost as bitter and cynical as me! I really liked the soviet charge music from cod1 and the battle of kursk trench music from UO but I totally agree that cod2 music is a cheap rip on enemy at the gates if you listen to both they are almost identical also cod 1 had very good "tense" music something cod2 totally lacks instead they play a preachy heroic music reminecent of Saving Private Ryan (for the american side)unlike the over romaticized private ryan that music doesnt work for cod2 at all which is why I replaced it with my own custom music I did like some of the british music so Ill give it a 4/10

LOL, this reminds me of my first few times playing MOH, and how the music score was thought to be so inspiring. Though the background music in some games is well done, it kinda makes playing them more like a movie than realistic and immersive IMO. Admittedly I just threw out a number with my rating on COD2's score, maybe I should have considered it more, but generally, the music doesn't matter a lot to me and I often turn it down to hear the enemy better.

I often thought of how amusing it would be to make a comedy machinima of MOH. A captain and his corporal are walking along, the sole survivors of a deadly battle their platoon has just encountered and suddenly the music starts up.

The captain says, "What was that"?, his corporal says, "Nothing sir, I think we killed 'em all". "No, not that", replies the captain, "I mean that music, where's it coming from"?

"Don't know capt, I don't hear anything", answers the corporal. "There's no houses around, I don't see how there could be music out here", adds the corporal.

"Are you implying I'm war weary"!?, barks the captain. "Uh, no sir, I just don't hear any music, even with the shell shock and ringing in my ears, maybe you're just homesick sir", states the corporal, attempting to be subtle and sympathetic.

"Well I know music when I hear it, the tune is orchestral, sort of builds as we engage the enemy, then slows and quiets down when there's no fighting going on", says the captain. At this point the corporal is sure the captain has lost his gord and is daydreaming of being the recipient of a prestigious award.

Now the corporal thinks the best thing to do is go along with the captain. He's worried if he does anything to enrage him he'll give away their position. "Is it a nice tune sir", asks the corporal, "I kinda miss hearing music, reminds me of home". "Yeah, not bad", the captain remarks, "A bit mushy, but not bad, it seems to have stopped for now though".

As they approach a nearby town the corporal now fears even more the captain will really lose it. "There it is again"!, says the captain, "It's really full of energy this time"! The corporal by now is scared to death, he does what he thinks is best and answers, "Yeah, I can definately hear it now sir, I think it's something by one of those German composers".

The music should be much better than it is. They could do it better. 5/10 Music in the first CoD was much better.

CODs music was much better i agree...and lol @ omen thats an awesome idea...we should make a spoof cod2 mod...where we have the music thing and also wenever a guy dies and respawns you could say something like "hey don't i know your from somewhere" and also you could have a grunt standing up and saying "have you ever noticed that you can take 50 mg rounds to the chest but if you hide for 20 seconds after you suddenly feel much better?"

LOL, very good, it's not just the computer skills that make some machinimas great , it's the writing behind them. Trouble is, if you don't have the technical skills, someone hears this stuff then runs away with it.

I've got another idea for MOH I thought of when I played a 3rd party sp map called Town. In the middle of a heated battle with both sides shooting across a bridge in a town filled with rubble, I stumbled upon a frantic solldier cowaring in a shack while looking for a better sniping vantage point.

I rifle butted him a few times to try and get him to engage in the battle, but he just stood there gasping in pain with each hit of my rifle and showing hilarious expressions of disbelief that I was doing so. MOH is not as good in graphics, but it has great potential for machinima.

I wanted to make a video short of that soldier called Deserter or something, but I have no means of adding voice overs to it.
