in my last post (Will this graphic card dp fine?), people said that 512mb of ram isn't very much for CoD2, so i was looking on newegg and i found this Ram that looked great for the price. What do you think?
I cant post the link but it was Corsair XMS 512mb 184-pin ddr sdram unbuffered ddr 400+
P.S. just look on newegg and you'll find it P.P.S. i am adding this to my 512mb i already have so i will have 1gb
Make sure its the right ram. Do you have ddr ram now? How many slots do you have? Last i checked, say you had 4 slots and you had 1 256's=512, and there are 2 empty slots, you need to fill those slots up. DDR works in pairs, transfering memory.
Yeah 1 gig will be enough.
The thing is, I'm led to believe that mixing different brands and types of RAM is a no-no for machines. I suggest you check into that, to be safe.
P.S. What are the specifications of your current RAM?
Well I just bought a 512 yesterday and my pc800 kingston and my pc800 kbyte work perfectly together like step brothers. Of course mine is DDR so I HAD TO BUY IT IN PAIRS.
Compatibility depends on the rest of your configuration and on the type of your Processor. You can t do anything wrong with Corsair. It s one of the best brands of RAM on the market.
I recommend that you go to store and replace your old modules for new ones. Modules should be the same. If you want that your modules work in dual channel mode, it is extremely important.
Using different brands will not be a problem as long as the frequeinces are equal. I am using different brands of RAM right now, and I had no problem whatsoever. However, if you can buy RAM of the same company, then do so.
I recommend to buy AMD 64 processor 2800+, cheap board on socket 939 and dual channel kingmax (1 gig.) Then you should be able to play comfortable.
