just not real...unlike other difficulties...AI gets even worse...they simply wait behind corner to you run up and ofcourse you cant shoot back cause you die on first shot,especiality annyoing on marine missions.
Yeah, Veteran is a big load of crap. Call of Duty, since the very first game, has relied heavily on making the player a high-priority target, which is to say if enemies see the player, they'll ignore all of the player's teammates and only shoot at the player, which is more and more apparent as the difficulty rises. AI have unrealistically perfect reaction times and accuracy at extreme distances, and have the most amazing throwing arms, spamming grenades into the same perfect spot over and over like crazy. Rarely do they waste a grenade on other AI. The player is pretty much the only person who ever has to suffer the grenades. Y'know, it's nice to die realistically easily like the badguys who fall to the player in such high numbers and to have a strong sense of danger, but Veteran throws it way out of proportion so it's just insanely ridiculous.
yea its a bunch of crap like you guys said i hate one shot one kill because u have to wait for the chopper and they throw so many grenades. im now on no fighting in the war room and the time limit sucks.
I know this is an old thread, but still I have to agree, veteran utterly sucks, I'm on the ICBM mission, and I am stuck at the part right after you destroy the tank, then on One shot one kill, the end of the level was fricken ridiculous, I had to find a glitch point, so no enemies would spawn if I stayed put, and then when the chopper landed I had to make a break for McMillian and get him in the chopper, and even then it took me forever and a day.
1 shot, 1 kill was actually easy for me on veteran. All I did was go into a ticket booth and just camp there as all these genades would blow up in my face and I wouldn't die. When the chopper comes, I sprinted to McMillian, carried him around the farace wheel and into the chopper and lvl complete.
I liked veteran mode. It was very challenging, and I enjoy a good challenge. I had the most trouble with No Fighting In The War Room, but I eventually developed a good strategy and finally beat it. Although, I STILL haven't been able to beat Mile High Club on veteran, 50 seconds just isn't enough...
Veteran mode disgusts me, frankly.
I can do it, if I try hard enough, but because the enemy AI hone in on you like your helmet is painted bright pink and your allies don't pull their own weight, Veteran just exacerbates the game's existing flaws to the point that it turns the game into a traditional "one hero against the world" FPS. If I want that, I'll play Serious Sam.
Personally I'd like to see a decent realism mod that leaves the weapon damage how it is in Veteran now, but reduces enemy accuracy a bit, reduces the enemy reaction time just a little, reduces the number of enemies in a few levels (War Pig, for example, just gets ridiculous, especially since you're the poor sap who has to push forward under fire and do all the room clearing) and makes them consider your teammates to be just as important targets as you.
Time limit missions are the worst in Veteran. I have nothing against staying patient and clearing out enemies from cover for a while and advancing slowly, but when I only get so many minutes to do it, I'm more prone to carelessness.
agreed, it's annoying when you have to kill constantly spawning enemies, but while trying to meet a time limit? It sounds like the brilliant idea in halo 3 in limiting the items you can put down, AND giving you a budget, come on, there is such a thing as too many handicaps
