Hey guys, this is Capt. Burgstrom (marvinmatthew) from HoB, I just wanted you guys to know that the HoB Dev team, and !Mikes Muaraduers! are sponsoring a tourney for Heat of Battle. Here are the specifics: Well folks, it's back. We're setting up a community tournament which is open to everyone interested. If you'd like to be in it, post a comment here. Please carefully read the entire post before signing up. If you're not available either the 20th or 21st, please include that in your post. Also make sure your email address is up-to-date. All instructions will be sent via email. The deadline for signups is the end of the day on the 15th. Teams will be assigned and maps will be announced on the 16th. Basics The tournament will be open to anyone who would like to participate. Matches will be held on the following dates: Round 1 - Aug 20 (Saturday), 21 (Sunday) Round 2 - Aug 27 (Saturday) Team play times will be determined based on the number of teams (i.e., the number of people who sign up). The intention is for the first matches to start each day at 7:00 pm GMT (3/2 pm Eastern/Central) and last no more than three hours. The first weekend (Round 1), each team will only play one game. The following Saturday (Round 2+), we'll play until we have a winner. If this becomes a problem due to too many people signing up, we'll do something different. Teams will consist of 6-8 people picked at random. If someone is not available to play a game, a substitute will be picked at random from the people hanging around. A server will be provided. Players are encouraged to get the client (it's free) for the tournament. Trust me, it helps. Make sure you debug any microphone setup issues before the match. We won't wait up for you. The TS server will be available for at least 15 minutes before a match for people to get set up if needed. Please note, this tournament is not an official function of HeatofBattle.net, Mike's Marauders or any other server/group. It's an event for the HoB community at large. As such, all comments/gripes/whatever should come here. However, both the HeatofBattle.net and Mike's Marauders are providing resources to help us have the tournament, so please be considerate. Rules The rules for this tournament will mirror the rules from Brief Overview:
- Spawn camping/throwing grenades into spawn will not be allowed.
- Friendly fire will be turned on and team killing will not be allowed. Purposeful team killing for any reason will result in the offender being removed from the tournament.
- Cheats are -obviously- not allowed. The server will be running in pure mode running version 0.41.
- The use of game or map exploits also are not allowed. In this category will be included bunny hopping/jump shooting. The emphasis in this tournament will be on realistic game play.
- "Ghosting" on Team Speak will not be allowed. Providing any helpful information (enemy positions, warnings about death nades, etc.) to your teammates while dead is considered cheating. Any information may be communicated while you are alive, but must wait until then.
There will be two active spectators in every game. One will be assigned to each Team Speak channel and one will, in addition, apply any discipline needed in-game. Their decisions are final and should not be argued with. The rules for this tournament are non-negotiable. Future tournaments may use different rulesets and suggestions are welcome, but will not be considered for this tournament (and please don't post suggestions in this thread). Due to different connection and computer speeds, there will be times at the beginning of maps and when switching sides where everyone will need to wait until the admin says the round may start. As with all things the admin says, please follow their instructions. Matches Maps will be played for 15 minutes, then the teams will switch sides and play another 15 minutes. Each match will consist two maps. In the first round the maps will be announced several days ahead of time. In subsequent rounds, the maps will not be announced until it is time to play. The maps will be chosen from this set:
- Dawnville Upholder
- Grand Central
- Second Coming
The default weapon distributions will be used. Panzerfausts will be enabled, the FG42 will not.

Note: Please do not try to sign up for the tourney by responding on this thread, use the link above to do so.

Stay tuned to the Heat of Battle forums, and even join them. The Dev team is always looking for new members to add to the comunity.
