Does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason why it sometimes only takes one shot to destroy a tank and multiple shots other times? I know that the Flak 88 will destroy a tank with one shot most of the time, I am mostly talking about tank vs. tank. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Does anyone know why it seems like the tank you are in is destroyed by one shot and at other times it takes multiple shots. I know that the Flak 88 and the heavy tanks often destroy opposing tanks in one shot. I am mostly talking about panzers, sherman, and the russian tanks. Any info on this would be helpful.

It depends on where you are hit. The front of a tank has the most armor, and the sides, rear, and top have the least.

If the armor is sloped, effectiveness in lowered. Range is also a key. If using a shaped charge round, speed is not a factor. Kenitic energy rounds rely on speed to penetrate.

Yeh I've noticed this.

I've even tested it a few times. I've been killed in a german tank from behind with one show from a russian RPG, but when others including myself shot the same shot in the same place its taken a few shots to kill. I have noticed that if you aim at the petrol tanks on the back of the tanks it helps destroy them.

if you can get the shell to land on top of the turret then it will kill the tank most times.

Try to shoot enemy tank in the back. You need only 1 direct hit into back and it will blow up. U need 2 direct hits to the sides and 3 direct hits to the front (this is only for lighter tanks, the heavy tanks need more hits to destroy them). In 1 on 1 situation turn your tank so that the enemys tank is right in front of you and try to shoot it in the back.

Its all about the location, As AntiKiller has said. Also, hiting it in the turret takes one or 2 hits, I think.

Don't forget about packet loss, sometimes the information telling the server or client that the tank was hit never makes it to the other end...
