well folks I'm fairly new at COD & UO, so... I've been playing a lot of mp and have seen mention of "teamspeak". do people really use it? i'd imagine that this would be a huge plus - strategy; troop movement; warning teammates of enemy movement; etc... I have headphones and a microphone? how do you join a teamspeak channel? do you sacrifice bandwidth in mp while using teamspeak? do you have to play in window mode (not fullscreen mode) to have access to the taskbar to manage your teamspeak connection?

yeah, teamspeak is a very effective way of communications. to answer your questions: 1) yeah, you're gonna need at least a microphone. headphones would be nice, especially if you got younger kids or older adults (in my case at least), and theres the chance for explict language. but otherwise, you're good to go with a decent microphone. 2) its much easier to join a TS channel if you have the IP and required stuff needed to join. its hard to explain..hopefully, someone else can explain. sorry. 3) i believe you sacrifice bandwidth using TS....but im sure it is miniscule. 4) kinda. if you want to switch channels, you can bind keys to do that. otherwise, i believe you do...i havent found a way yet :(. also, theres a program out there called teamspeak layout. it enables you to view who's speaking at the time. i dont have the website,..sorry again.

thanks for the reply.

I'll look further for "how to" specs.

would've been nice if they (activision) had bundled teamspeak with cod/uo.

teamspeak was not bundled with cod/uo because teamspeak is a 3rd part stand alone application. it's website can be found here. they have how to's and what not there, i'd assume.

thanks for the link - looks like the place...

i knew that teamspeak was/is a 3rd party... but was hoping (and still am, for future releases) that activision would have the vision to contract/bundle it like they did with punkbuster (also a 3rd part vendor). btw - sorry that your head hurts :D

heh, thanks.

activision has a deal going with PB where PB keeps the cheaters away. teamspeak also doesn't run on all OS's like PB.

(yeah, i kinda missed the point of this post, too. big jump there, i guess.)
