Hello, i have been playing cod for about a year, i have used a smg for most of the time because i was never good with a rifle i realize that when it comes to true skill a rifle is the thing to use and true domination is the result of a crack shot with a sniper/rifle. i was wondering if there were any little pointers or tips to use to make me better at using a rifle/sniper im forcing my self to use a rifle whenever i play now and im sucking so any advice is welcomed thank you:smokin:

if you are in close quarters combat with a bolt action, hit them with one round then switch to ur pistol to finish them off

For open maps like Brecourt, try strafing alot (when you have someone in sight) and wait for them to fire first (dogging their bullet). After that they have to reload and you have the time to aim and shoot.

The "trick" I use is zoom-aim-shoot-zoom out ....works like a charm. Never stay zoomed in during the reloading your weapon sequence cause you will be strafing to slow. Sam

if ya are in a windows or something, and someone (with an SMG) has spotted you, just sit right next to the window, and lean real quick and shoot, then directly lean back. you just have enough time to see where your bullet hit before you lean back, so then, adjust your crosshair to where it should point to hit the guy, then repeat the previous steps. (i hope you get me) this is especially handy if you are in a map like pavlov, where most people are stationary behind windows just aiming at you. it is useless in a close combat map like carentan. the trick with this method is, that you expose as less of your body as possible, and as short as possible, so they have no time to hit ya. (it is useless against me ofcourse, cause i'll hit ya anyway).

If you play very open maps like Foy or Brecourt, it is important to get used to dropping to the ground while running. I'm often running and have to drop, rough aim, zoom, shoot and then get up and run before someone else zooms in on me. Even if you've found good cover, don't stay there too long because someone will make it their absolute mission to get to you. Kill a few people and then move to another spot. It is fun to kill someone on Foy and then move to another spot and wait for that person to come looking for you and then kill them again. Fellow snipers will take being killed personally and there is nothing more fun than getting into a sniper duel.

Some more tips: 1. if you find yourself engaged in a firefight where one of you is using a sniperrifle and the other an unscoped rifle, always be aware of the reloading times of both guns. Very important. Timing is everything. 2. Use zoom-aim-shoot-zoomout method. 3. Always have a full clip. Often it comes down to who has the last bullet 4. Switch to a pistol when nesesary. Nothing I like more than gunning down a machinegunnoob with a few shots in the face. 5. Force yourself to move. Because like Big Freakin Texan said they will be comming for you. (especially when kill cam is on) 6. Don't shoot at everything that moves. The fire out of the barrel gives your spot away. Your run-'n-gunning days are over. 7. Know your maps and all it's spots. 8. During a rifle/sniperduell keep moving. 9. With semi-authomatic riffles, learn how to click your mouse fast. 10. Good focus, be very concentrated. 11. If you can get a good mouse and mousepad.

i always use rifles ( no scope ) , because they are true skill. it does make it harder to score first place with it, then if i had a stg44, but i am more satisfied with a challenge,so the rifle is the way to go. plus u feel badass when ur first place in server and no one else is using a bolt rifle.i dont have any tips, i just zoom and shoot, and if close quarters i sometimes wip out my pistol.

Ive been playing for a while now, but first time on this forum, as Texan said, take a couple shots, espicially if your sniping and move. Everytime ive picked off a sniper, that guy manages to setup on me and take me out, he doesnt go for obvious kills,he wants to kill the guy who just killed him,so ive learned to shoot 2-3 rounds,or maybe 2-3 kills then get outta there. On just about every tdm i play, i get into this little battle with a sniper, where im trying to find him just to get him back, its really fun. I only use the bolt action when im playing on the british side or u.s, i dont like the german bolt action, not sure why, How do you strafe jump, i dont know how to strafe, and didnt see it in options, can anyone tell me,is it a default move in the game im just missing? thanks

you can strafe by just holding the left and right movement keys and not turning…

and as for tips: don't forget about melee. if you'r in a firefight close up with another rifleman and you both run out of bullets, rush him and melee him. if you hit it should kill him. if not, whip out your pistole and finish him off with it.
