In other words, when you shoot your gun, the player you are shooting isn't really there until later...perhaps a half second later or so. What ends up happening is you can't kill anyone unless they stand still for that half second or they are running in a straight line...it is especially funny to me when I snipe somebody and they die after an obvious brief delay. I'm wondering if this is a problem with my connection, the other players connection or the server itself.

I'm wondering if this is a problem with my connection, the other players connection or the server itself.
Possibly all 3. Most likely your connection is too slow (eg, dialup instead of broadband/cable) and the delay is the time taken to reach the server. This isn't really a problem unless you like to play games online a lot, like I do and I'm stuck on da dialup. Next is the server, it might just be a pile of crap or have it's own inefficient internet connection, causing big delays for everybody. Last is the other player's connections, because if you have cable and they have a slower connection then to you it would usually seem as they are standing still and you would be able to kill them without any delays anyway. I don't usually play CoD very often but when I have I've always had a terrible delay, like so badly that I can't move because when I do get anywhere a few seconds later it "Warps" me back to where I was.

i feel your pain...you sir have a high ping.....
I dunno...I'm on dsl, usually under 60 ping. I think it could be the server too, but the problem is that some players benefit from it and it doesn't seem like they have better connections necessarily so I think there are other factors which is why I asked the question. Also, some of these guys act like they are just really good players and are just oblivious to the problem...or they know there is a problem and pretend there isn't one.
