Red Menace...Although Communism has scarred Russia they are near bankrupt and have a long ways to go to recover but they will recover some day and be great agian! The same goes in Eastern Europe!

It is kind of sad to think that the country that is the richest in the world in natural resources hasn't got the funds nor the collective spirit to expoit it... If they only wanted to they could drive the oil prices down with the reservoirs in Siberia - not to mention what they could do with all the Platinum, Gold, Silver, Uranium, etc, etc, if they would just get their act together once... I too love Russia - though I was taught all my life that they are the enemy I was lucky enough to visit that country - it is almost as breathtaking as Iceland...

Reven The Russians should have a powerful economy because of the potential to trade with the whole of Asia, Australasia, Europe and America. because it is near all of them. They arn't because they have a communist government.
History leason number one. The Russians haven't been communist for quite some time now and are now a democracy. Personally i remember the Berlin wall being torn down, it's one of those dates in history that you dont forget.
RevenP.S. I wasn't talking about NATO of the UN. Sorry.
Time for a history leason again, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Orginization) and the UN (United Nations) are two different orginizations. NATO was created in response to Eastern Europe being communist and forming the Warsaw Pact. These two were military alliances between the East and the West, the communists and the mostly democratic nations. The UN was created to help prevent anymore mass wars by finding a diplomatic resolution to any situation.
i might sound stupid, but is germany even allowed an army now?

Germany has a full standing army/navy/airforce. In fact Germany makes some of the best submarines and tanks available. Which is where it gets some of its export money from, off of doing what they do best.

Vertical345japan never really rebuilt there army after the war, they have one but it is definantly limited.

Limited in it's allowed actions but very formidable none the less. Their navy is second in the world after the US.

Karl Rommel - When I said NATO of the UN I meant OR. I know what they stand for and what they do and which countries are in it. It was a spelling mistake. I always make my posts as clear as possible, unlike those who talk in text language or mongo language such as "I dont no cuz I nevr saw. Whts rong with my cod? plz hlp". Bare that in mind.

It all depends on where they all were after the War. Germany was in ruins, so they didn't win it, Japan was irradiated, so they didn't win it, London was recovered from the Vengence weapons and bombing rades so they could be said to have won it, France was ok but they had to get their government back on track and the US was perfectly normal on the mainland because they were never attacked there. I would still say the Allies won it. But we all know, no one wins wars. There were casualties on both sides. The only way to truly win a war would be if you suffered no casualties. But then there would be no point in going to war at all.

Yes, but in the end Germany might have lost the battles, but the victors paid to rebuild the country and made it a very strong power in Europe again - the same with Japan, really
