I really like the quality of alot of the custom cars people have made. I've modded my GTA-SA game and managed to make it run fairly stable with about 80 custom vehicles (no small task to make it run stable, mind you). Some of those custom vehicles though have been given rediculous speed and handling characteristics. I'd like to change them to something closer to reality.

For instance, a Shelby Mustang should not accelerate faster than a Ferrari 575, last time I checked. A generation 3 Mazda RX-7 doesn't do 0-60 in 3 seconds. Stuff like that.

What files, and specifically which lines of those files would I need to edit to change the speed of a custom car with? Also any baseline numbers to use for reference would be great. I mean what does the text line for speed/handling for a supercar like an Infernus look like as opposed to a subcompact like a Manana.

Also, I still have all these custom car downloads in their zip form, and it would probably be easier to just edit those files and then add them to the game again after I modify them. I like to use the app San Andreas Mod Installer for adding them.

Thanks in advance for any help. ;)

If anyone cares, I figured out you can do it with the GTA:SA Ultimate Editor. There are no doubt other programs to do it with, but here's what to do to edit top speed & acceleration with this one:

Click the "Vehicle Editor" tab Expand "[+]Cars" (or bikes, etc.) Click the vehicle you wish to modify Under "Transmission" edit the "Max Velocity" and "Engine Acceleration" (Note that the mass of a vehicle significantly impacts it's performance) Click on the "Save" button on top left after modifying each vehicle.

That's it.

You can also edit handling characteristics and tons of other stuff.

Download Link for GTA:SA Ultimate Editor: http://www.gtagaming.com/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=977 (I couldn't find it on FileFront)

i use notepad, it's much easier. i can't stand some of that higher level rubbish like the ultimate editer. using the higher level stuff often removes some of your ability to mod. for example, the ped editor doesn't let you change the model of peds but the ped file does.
