You have to put pk3 file in your Call of Duty 'Main' folder. If your background is not pk3 file, you will need to convert it. If you don't know how to do that, please read this guide: http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-116.html

Ah, this is what I thought I would have to do. But what do I name the folder and how do I make it be my default background? Do I add an extra command line parameter to my CoD?

The images that shows on the 'Main Menu' is controlled by a file called menu_background.menu, found in pak01.pk3\ui_mp.

The images are called main_back_top_mp.tga main_back_bottom_mp.tga.

If you want to mod them, drag out the images (found in ui_mp\assets folder), and use something like Photoshop, and edit the images with your own. Then save them as .tga (TARGA) files.

Make a small mod to run it: on your Win desktop, create a new folder called ui_mp. Open it and in there create another folder called 'assets'. Place your images in there and then pack them up into a pk3 file (download Pakscape to do this - just google for it).

Name it something like zzz_menu_mod.pk3

Place it in your COD 'main' folder.

Hmmm. I dont have a pak01.pk3 but I do have a pak0.pk3 and I found what I needed in there. The thing was I only have the main_back_bottom_mp.tga and not the main_back_top_mp.tga. I have tried many things but none work :( I can change the file main_back_bottom_mp.tga with my file, but it is only the bottom. When I try the .pk3 it didnt work. I have tried on this for about an hour and still I could only get the bottom working, nothing else. Also I have CoD Game Of The Year Edition. Maybe there were some changes between original CoD and this. I will be trying the font part tomorow, Thanks for your help, hope I can get this working Mr_Nickle

If you get the screen that you shot in your first post, then you must have it. Other wise its weird science we are talking here. Maybe the little aliens made the top part appear in the screenshot above?

Must be some really wierd science. No hidden files, nothing. Here is a picture of the files. Just the bottom part, not top. 03cf59cd.jpg Strange isnt it? Maybe I could edit something in the menu_background.menu... Just need to figure out how to open up .menu files.

Ok, I finally got it to work. I reinstalled CoD and there was still no top piece. I tried what I did to fix it before but it didnt work :(, but I got it to work by just placing the top+bottom into the pk3 file without making mini-mod. Thanks for the help Tally! Finally got it to work, it looks great, Mr_Nickle

(-*Edit*-) Now I can't join any server because it says

"Unpure client detected. Invalid .PK3 files referenced! C:\Program Files\Call of Duty Game of the Year Edition\main\Pak0.pk3"

I guess I will try your menu mod now.

(-*Edit #2*-) I tried taking out the top+bottom (Ones I added) out of the pak0.pk3 and still get same error message after making the menu mod. Strange. Maybe I will try reinstalling CoD again and making menu mod.

Changing or editing any of the cod stock files will give you unpure client error.... Copy the files you want to edit and make your own .pk3 file for them to run in. No need to reinstall cod just replace the pak0.pk3 file with the one off your CD

Yep, that will give you the "unpure client" error.

NEVER edit the original files, always make a mini mod.
