I wanted to put some Saving Private Ryan sounds in the game, mostly because I hate the United Offensive sounds for the new weapons, especially the .30 cal. I have an Audigy2 ZS sound card from Creative, and I use this "What U Hear" feature on Creative MediaSource to record the sounds on my computer without using a microphone. That's how I got the sounds off of the Saving Private Ryan DVD. All of the programs I used in this process are: Creative MediaSource (to set the function to "What U Hear") Windows Media Player (to play the DVD) Sound Recorder (recording the sounds) PakScape (accessing and modifying the .pk3 files) When I put any sound in the pak1.pk3 file, in the correct directory, I hear nothing while in the game. Can somebody please help me out? Solutions, etc? Are there any other techniques for putting the sounds in? Thanks. Schtoogie

Make sure you have named the new sound files the same as the original ones, or else it won't play the right sound.

Problem solved!!!

I was saving them as stereo instead of mono.

I set up the .30 cal, and it sounds great :-) ... it's a little quiet though. I tried increasing the volume on the file itself, but something in the game is limiting it. Any solutions?

Try looking in the the soundaliases folder in pak03. It has a bunch of files that tell the game how to play the sound, and what level to play it at. :)

Gotcha. Fixed it all up. Now all the sounds kick ass. I know there are a lot of SPR sound mods out there, but any for UO? Is mine the first? I mean, I replaced the system sounds... so you can't really call it a "mod" can you

From that post, I assume they have to be mono.
