i have water in my map deep enought to walk in and prone in and stuff but how do i get my character to start drowning after proned under the water? is this scripting if so how is it done?
Sorry it's so late, so here it goes... Once you have created your river/stream de-select all and right to bring up the menu.. Goto "trigger/hurt " and then it will create a box, extend this box to the size of you river/stream and place just under the surface, but make sure it is as deep as you river/stream. Now with this box selected hit "n", in the entity menu tick box "slow and player_only". Now click on "spawnflags" in the below window and it will enter into your "key/Value" window, in "value" type 20 and enter..... This is the amount of hurts it will take to kill you while you are under water and I find this the best setting, but you might like more or less pending on the size of your river/stream.... I think it will hurt you while any part of your body is in that damage zone though. I remember one map had a shallow river you could walk through but there was a pain in the ass damage zone in it. He probably tried to do the same thing on his map...
Then if it's only a shallow river you wouldn't need "trigger/hurt". If it's a deep river then set the "trigger/hurt" one actor's deep from the surface then that way you can walk the shallow's with out being damaged........!
I think the single player mission POW camp has a shallow pool area where you can't go prone. Try looking at that.
its all shallow but its deep enought for the whole person to go under water so when the whole character is unnder the water(proned) i want them to die not when they walk through it.
Then like I said above..... Set your hurt at the bottom of the river/stream just one thick and place it on the bed of the river. This way when you are in the deep part it will hurt you until you are dead...
