Well before i was getting this error-"Couldnt load default_mp.cfg,make sure CoD is run from the right folder",well my dad tried to help, and deleted all my CoD Files(yes all of them). I insert the disk trying to uninstall it but since he deleted that file,i cant do that.So id like some help from somebody that is good at this,or can at least tell me i cant do anything.

right if you have all the files deleted from your hard drive and they arent in the recycle bin then I would suggest the following:

Go to the start menu - select Run and type in regedit

Now go to Edit menu and select Find type in the box Call of Duty and go through all the enteries and delete everyone.

This will do a manual uninstallation of the game but you need to make sure the Call of Duty folder is deleted too.

Once this is done reinstall the game and if the game gives you a error again copy the pak3 files from the setup/data folder of the cd's to the Call of Duty Main folder and then try the game before applying any kind of offical patches. This should now work, but if you get a reading error while copying the files over you will need to put the cd's into another cd/dvdrom drive as the cd's or the drive maybe dirty or scratched.

If you have any problems post back.

I've tried this and it does work !!

copy the file:

localized_english_pak5.pk3

from CoD1 (cd 1 of Call of Duty) right click ont he cd and select open, now double click on the Setup Folder and double click on the Data folder, now double click on the main folder. Select the file above and select copy.

Go to where the Call of Duty game is installed on your pc:

C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main

and go to the edit menu and select paste, a warning will come up asking if you want to over write, select YES. This should cure the problem cure the default_mp.cfg problem.

If this doesnt cure it copy the following file:

localized_english_pak2.pk3 over the same way.

or

localized_english_pak0.pk3

this is because the game has 3 default_mp.cfg and 1 default.cfg located in those files.

Do a Full uninstallation of the game and then delete the folder Call of Duty and then reinstall CoD, try the game, then if it works install v1.4 patch. If the game works, install v1.5 patch.

If you cant do a uninstallation of the game and the cd wont let you select install the game go to Start menu and select Run, now type in:

D:\Setup.exe <---- D is where your CD/dvd rom drive is where the cd1 should be

this should force the installation to go through
