I have recently bought the deluxe edition of CoD and installed with no problems. When I start the single player game I get told to insert the correct CD and restart despite haveing disc 1 in the drive. I even tried adding OU to the install but that did the same. Multiplayer works fine!! Anyone any ideas? Please.

If you live in the United States, you have to install the latest game patch and then the game of the year patch to get the game to work. This link will help.

Hope you get it working.

Hi ighbee Sorry that the other 2 posts didn't get your point about it being SINGLE PLAYER. So, no update patch or router issues with this then. So you get a request to place a CD in the drive when there is already one there. And you have 1 CD ROM drive right? You aren't putting the CD in the wrong drive? i haven't come across this problem before, so I'll have to do a little research first. I'll post back with a possible solution.

You need to go back and read my first post. If you follow the link I put in, it shows you how to fix this SINGLE PLAYER problem. This is only for the US version of the game. The UK version never had this problem.

Its called the GOTY patch:

*******PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS. ALL STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED FOR THIS FIX TO WORK*******

1) If you do not have the Call of Duty 1.5 patch installed then go to here and download and install the patch. 2) Download the file CoD_Goty_Patch.exe that is attached to this page. 3) Once the file is downloaded run CoD_Goty_Patch.exe. 4) When the installer is running you will be prompted for a install directory. The game assumes that you have the Call of Duty Game of the Year version of the game installed in the default directory. If not then you must point the installer to the correct directory where the game is installed. You can do this by pressing the browse button. If you make a mistake and install the fix to the wrong directory you will have to run it again making sure to install it to the correct directory. 5) When the installer is done the game should now work properly. Please Note- this patch is only compatible with the US version of Call of Duty

Thanks everyone. For info its a UK version as far as I know. I have fixed the problem with a NO-CD patch. it may not be ideal but it works.

I also needed help with my COD. I bought it, installed it, downloaded the 1.5 patch, and my single player won't run. Whenver I click it, a "Call of Duty" box appears and disappears, and nothing happens. P.S. Multiplayer works quite well.
