I just installed COD UO on another computer. The specs can run it, they are:
AMD Athlon XP 3000 512 mb ram Nvidia Geforce 6600GT
I used to run COD UO on a Pentium 4 and it ran flawless. Now, I'm trying to get it to run on this computer and it constantly freezes or I get graphics problems. WTF is wrong? Thanks.
1. Update your graphics card drivers. 2. Make sure your graphics settings are set to its optimal value. 3. Make sure you have powerful brand name power supply. 4. I minimally recommend Chieftec 360W. 5. Go to your graphic drivers control panel, and reset all settings to default. I hope something helped.
KaDa has some good ideas. It's probably not the power supply though because that P4 would eat more power than the Athlon. You might make sure that your CPU and video card are getting additquate cooling.
The PSU I'm using is a 430 watt Antec Truepower II. I have the latest Nvidia drivers and can run every games smoothly but this one, which is disappointing, since it's one of the few fps games I'm interested in atm. I looked for a patch for the game, but I have the latest version (1.5). The game doesn't ever start out right. The screen is black and I have to hit the console to get the menu to come up. Weird.
reinstall the game again. Make sure you delete the cod folder from the install directory which gets left behind after running add/remove programs.
After you have reinstalled, check the pk3 file sizes as they will tell you if everything is ok install wise. These are what they should be:

If any arent correct and doesnt match, then it indicates that the install has been unsuccessful. In which case, clean your ROM laser head and make sure the discs are free from scratches and blemishes.
If the sizes are correct, then it indicates a problem with the NVida Open GL driver. Check NVidia's support site are known problems with certain cards and Open GL games like COD.
Don t open ROM in any case. Use special CD for cleaning rom laser.
dont bump old threads to say unimportant things, my friend.
