Well a clan mate of mine and one of his friends on xfire found the problem that you and I are both having Toker. The current version of pb has a conflict with nvidia mother boards with amd athlon 64s, its the series 3 version mother board only. http://www.punksbusted.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28804&st=0

{FEAR}Toker;3356651Ok i have tried all the various PB sollutions, and none have worked, someone suggested to me that i should update my chipset drivers, however i have no clue how to do this, i know my motherboard is a

ABIT AV8 SOCKET 939 K8

But searching the web i am getting all sorts of different drivers and i dont know wich ones i need, can anybody provide a link to the drivers i need ?

Sorry for being such a noob, but really i just play games and am not really clued up on software/hardware.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated many thanks

{FEAR}Toker

Most motherboards have a driver disc which comes with the system. On that disc is usually an auto update program to search online for any updated driver. This will mean that you wont need to know the exact chipset, as the software will locate the right driver for you.

However, I doubt very much that this problem is caused by a mobo chipset bug with PunkBuster, as Im pretty sure this edition of the board is a GForce4 chipset.

I suspect that its a connection issue - not your connection to the internet, but the games' connection to the PB server. This is a third-party layer of internet protocols that requires heavy demands on system resources. 2 of the resources that suffers are video scrolling and sound.

Try turning off your AV while you play, and also, if you are behind a Firewall, turn that off momentarily while you play and test.

Also, if you are using a router (and most of us are these days), that the COD ports have been forwarded. This doesnt always happen automatically and sometimes requires manual configuration.

If you havent done this/checked it, and need assistance, please post your router model, and I will give a tutorial on how to forward the ports correctly.

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/drivers.php?categories=1&model=175 Here is where you find the VIA Chipset drivers for your board, but I will warn you on doing this, if you do this wrong, you can fry your board, and good-bye computer.. So if you choose to do this, have someone who knows exactly what to do, do it. Try first to do what Tally suggested. I did read some of the other post from the other boards, and maybe Evenbalance will have a fix for it soon.

If your ever looking for drivers for something on your computer, always go to the manufactures site, don't trust off brand sites for drivers, this is just a suggestion.

Tally i have 3 different router's Origo ASR-8400 Trend TEW-435BRM Thomson speedtouch-330 I have tried the game with all 3 router's and it still freeze's, i did try the port forwarding but i am not sure if i did it correctly, any advice on this would be much appreciated. Thankyou all guys, i will continue trying to get this problem sorted and will post any findings i come across. {FEAR}Toker

I have the same problem. It's a PB issue and started with their client update on the 10th October. I am working with Evenbalance to resolve it. I'll let you know when (or even if!) they find a solution.

Evenbalance sent me a new PBCL.DLL file to try. Sadly it didn't work and I still get lock ups. However, it does show that evenbalance recognise that there is a problem and are trying to fix it. They have sent me some diagnostic/tracing programs to run, which I will do tonight and hopefully these will allow evenbalance to progress a solution.

I'm pleased I'm not the only one having this problem. Mine is slightly different, I get the lock up when first joining a server and when the map changes to a new map, I get the lock up from anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. When it settles back to "normal" I don't have any problem with the sound, what I do have though is my hard drive light is continuosly on even when the computer is idleing and when i click on start>my computer my DVD drives are no longer there, very bizarre!

Like everyong else I only have this problem playing CoDUO and funnily enough I too have the same motherboard as {FEAR}Toker an ABIT AV8 SOCKET 939 K8.

Wow!......I also have this very same problem which started towards the end of October (I think?). I've tried everything except buying a new PC, and believe Punkbuster Is deffo the cause of my troubles because things run fine without it - only it just ain't the same. I have an ATHLON 64, Nvidia Gforce4 chipset motherboard. Anyone there yet with the solution?.............Life just hasn't been the same since:bawl: . Oh! Happy New Year all!
